    Webcam Signing

Webcams are good substitutes if you don't have a VP (can't get one because my ISP isn't compatible with it) or don't know anyone to sign one on one with. My friend once told me that the only problem with it was the lag, but he does love using it to talk with his mom on AIM. I've never used my...

From deaf/Deaf Perspective: When Answering The Door

Honestly, I refuse to answer the door unless I know who is coming over. Most of the people that come over are usually looking for my room mates anyway so it works out.

    I have finally decided!

Its been sometime since I've rethought my career choices lately which have landed me in an unfulfilling path. After doing alot of reading and self descovery, I have decided I want to become a teacher for the deaf and HoH! I'll be starting classes in a few months and I'm just so exited! But I...

    Webcaptel and Skype

I assume as long as you have a phone number you can receive incoming calls from regular phones it should work just like any other phone.

To all hearing parents of Deaf kids

Perhaps I can show another side of the sign, no sign argument. I asked my mom why I never learned ASL as a child, she said "Because we never taught you ASL, we tried teaching you SEE however for over a year I tried to get you to use more sign but you just wouldn't pay attention. Then your...

    Do you use Spint Webcaptel?

I used it once to call my sister. The operator was terribly slow and kept saying my sister was 'unclear'. The operator couldn't even type niece's name. I got so flustered I just decided to end the call and text my sister instead.

I had a similar experience this morning with one of the supervisors at work. I just gotten written up. My supervisor, JD (the shop steward), the on-road (driver) supervisor, and I were having the wonderful conference about my actions and what we need to do to correct it. I was concentrating on...

    Odd texting grammar

    Sign Names

My name is Rocky (no joke), my name sign is like the ASL letter R and L combined brought up the right side of the face to the right side of the head while bringing the thumb into the hand. My friend gave me this sign after he started teaching me ASL, although I'm not entirely sure what it...

    Question for deaf people

Wow, I'm still confused as to what the OP wants. Does the OP want to know about what type of devices we use in our daily lives such as TTY (ancient I know), VPs, IP-Relay, visual alerts, or is there something more specific? Maybe my blond is showing too much

    Allergic Cockroach!! Yuck!!

I used to live in a house infested with those despicable little demons with my sister and her daughter. The landlord wouldn't do anything about them no matter how much we complained. Kinda scary that they can cause an allergic reaction especially in asthmatic since my niece is severly asthmatic.

gahh!! time to start learning how to drivee....oh noo!!!

Don't be nervous about the test, both the written and skill tests are easy. Just don't get too nervous before you take the skill test, take a deep breath and relax. Just drive like you would with anyone else in the car :D ... But don't be like me and get your license then stop driving...

Hey! (Last minute, but if you could help me out I'd really appreciate it...)

    1. How did you become deaf or hard of hearing? My hearing loss is caused from abuse when I was a toddler. 2. How did your parents react upon learning that you were deaf? They had no clue how to react, My father refused to believe it. My parents wanted me to simply fit in. They taught me to...
