ASL iPhone App

I'm working for my friends company and he's learning a little ASL to make work go a little smoother. He showed me his iPhone and there was a list of apps on it for ASL. He asked me to browse through it and see which one I think would be best. He mainly wants to use it to study and if he needs a word he can look it up.

Do any of you know of a good one?

Do you mean something like ASL pro . com?
 
I find it horrible. They're design in 3D and it's difficult to see than rather in real-life photo-motion.
 
Yea, I looked at that one and it wasn't good at all. The best I found was one made for kids called signing time. It actually played videos instead of those terrible animations. But I was hoping to find one more for adults. Seems funny to suggest a kids app to my friend. But if it's the best I can find then I'll suggest it to him.

I am currently working on an ASL iphone app. It will be similar to something like ASL pro with a person signing rather than an animation. Ill keep you informed as to when it would become available.

Great! I'll look for new real-face ASL app.

I had no Idea Signing Time had an App! My daughter uses the videos at home! (We have done Baby Signing with her since she was 10 months) Thanks!!!

We have iASL on our iPad. It is an actual person signing a word query you type in. It's not as good as ASL pro, but it's adequate. Also, the woman signing is speaking and mouthing the words, so it's not 100% pure ASL either....but something worth looking into.

There is a swedish one for free (TeckenLex Free) also that you can use to try out the functionality. Bet that there is a SignLex Free also comming up soon..
