I'm concerned about some teachers would going say negative or non-fact about UN, EU and other organizations due lacks of detail. I'm just want know about define of them that based on fact and I do know some teachers are brainwash their children.

Ah, so you want boards to limit what teachers can say????

Does concept of socialism should be taught at school? I don't learn about true socialism until became adult and my 7th grade teacher said communist has negative about anything like no freedom; and one of my student questioned about socialism so she said socialism is bad as communist. I was brainwashed by her and praised about free market until I started research about socialism so I understand but more complicated to explain.

Are you saying you support socialism

I think socialism should be taught- the definition, the variations, the times and places it's been tried, and the results in those places. I think we should teach about the horrible conditions and human rights abuses in communist countries like the Soviet Union, North Korea, and China. I don't think teachers should be making blanket statements like socialism is just as bad as communism because there are various types of socialism so there are various results.

I don't think non-facts should be taught, but I'm fine with negative facts and positive facts being taught.

Yup, I agree with you about that.

Not really, they are free to say whatever they want and I expect them to include facts as well.

One thing is clear. There are two factions: those that believe in the education of children, and those that believe in the indoctrination of children so they will continue in the same mindset as those who bore them.:laugh2:

Teachers are supposed to keep their personal beliefs out of teaching so if there are teachers interjecting their beliefs, then they shouldnt be in this field or work for a private school that adopts their personal beliefs.

Oh really, interesting.

Yep. And curriculum standards should never be written to reflect personal beliefs. Or political beliefs.

I agree.

Would you say a teacher sending a child home with a book titled" MLK was a good man" is an example of a teacher interjecting her beliefs.

Not if it was part of the curriculm.

Yes. He was a good man, but that is not a fact. It is an opinion

That's the reason I sent my daughter to the top private school in Dallas. No reason to allow politicians to dictate what they hear.

It is great, however that TX wants kids to think for themselves and question issues rather than teach through the rose colored glasses that the UN is perfect and there was never a shread of evidence to back up McCarthy's claims.

Information......as refreshing as Coca-Cola

Not if it was part of the curriculum.

The word good as part of the curriculum????? That would be kind of strange. By book,I am referring to the coloring book the teacher assembled. We discussed this in another thread.

Did the teacher create the coloring book by herself? Then, it would be an opinion and shouldnt be in the title.

If the book was required by the curriculm standards as a reading lesson, then the teachers have to follow it whether they think MLK is a good person or not.

I hope that answers your question.

If the school were to use that book then that is one example of Indoctrination. The proper type of book to use would just tell what he did so that the kids could use their brain to decide if he was good or not

Yep I agree. As I said in the other thread we took it too the school board and won. Teacher quit on the spot. No one cried. This was a book created by the teacher and given to a friends child.

Then the board of trustees would have to approve of changes to the curriculm.

The point is that if teachers are using materials as stated in the curriculm, they are being neutral.
