Texas Board Passes Social Studies Curriculum

I am asking if you are saying that these changes have not passed. I am not asking what the links say.

Are you saying the curriculum changes in TX have not passed? Simple question.

The answer is in the links. I teach a man to fish...I don't spoon feed him that fish.

Looks like you may be a product of teaching to the test.:P

And I disagree with this for much the same reasons as you. I don't see how you can leave JT out of US History as he has a heavy impact on our history.

Oh, they made concessions. They watered him down and simply "made mention" of him.

Oh so then it is just a curriculum that gives kids the option to think that is bad???

Show me that curriculum. It certainly isn't the one that Tx is proposing, and it certainly isn't possible as long as NCLB determines funding.

Yeah...

Like I am getting really grumpy at geology students asking for PDFs on a vertebrate paleontology listserv... when I could easily find the PDFs on Google. And even if I couldn't download it, the authors' contact information are readily available.

WTF?

I don't need 20-30 e-mails spamming my BlackBerry asking for easy-to-find PDFs.

Sorry, just had to vent. :D

*sigh* Could somebody please read the actual curriculum changes before smearing my state? That would just be fabulous if somebody here could care enough about critical thinking to read the source instead of blindly going off the Washington Post's dishonest spin about it.

By the way, TJ was not eliminated from US history. He was only eliminated from a list of enlightenment thinkers.

I know what the articles say.

I know what I say.

Now....what do you say. Have the changes passed or not?

I seeee. So you equate

Teaching kids to think by giving them all the information......

.

and asking them to think for themselves......

With an indoctrination statement like....

It was on news yesterday or last 2 days when I read about curriculum change in Texas so they probably remove or change to make accurate.

Yeah...

I'm going through the same right now. Just provided someone with the name of the journal, the publisher, the author, and the time span. Now they are complaining that I didn't give them the title of the article. For goodness sake, do a refined search. That is more info than I had when I located the damned research initially!

My time to vent, too!

I did. And I read at least 8-10 other articles besides the Washinton Post one, as well.

Like I said, they made concessions. Eliminated still means the same thing.

:laugh2: Brainwashed with the actual document????

Regardless about actual document, I don't like some of curriculum change that is more favor to conservative.

You need laugh to yourself, don't laugh at my face.

Regardless about actual document, I don't like some of curriculum change that is more favor to conservative.
So now, citing the actual document, could you list the parts you don't like about it and why?

Oh I knew there wouldn't be a direct answer. I asked for the entertainment value and to prove a point about one ADer to another ADer. Mission Accomplished! (really this time)

So now, citing the actual document, could you list the parts you don't like about it and why?

I want history to be center and neutral without backing by political parties.

I just want facts that are true and significant to be taught, regardless of whether the left, right, or center likes or dislikes a particular fact.

So what part of the document fails to achieve that?
