"President out of touch....plays golf during bad economy..."

That has been known for years. He had the presence in mind to stop playing golf. Glad he quit. He took accountability for that image issue. I can't say the same for Obama while the economy is bad and soldiers dying in greater number over in Afghanistan.

Edited to add: Also out of respect, too, he quit. He finally realized that.

Would it matter if Obama stopped golfing? Would your opinion of him improve?

Didn't think so. I'm surprised you haven't compared the golf handicaps of GOP vs Dems.

I say it does present a bad image for both presidents to play golf in times when the economy is bad. How come Axelrod cannot say the same thing for Obama? By the same convention would playing golf be ok when soldiers are dying in the Afghanistan war, for example? Like when you have nearly 3 times as many soldiers killed in the Afghanistan war during Obama's administration compared to Bush. At least Bush had in mind to quit golfing but not Obama. Hypocrisy much?

Perhaps there are more soldiers dying in Afghanistan during Obama's years because he is not focusing on Saddam and the mysterious WMD. His term also included the execution of the Bin Laden, world's most wanted man. Could it be the priorities were rearranged?

I would've been impressed had he quit while he was already 50 golf rounds in realizing his folly....but, alas, he's up to 100 now.

This thread is about the hypocrisy of Axelrod on Bush's golfing while the economy was bad but strangely silent on Obama's. Not about handicaps.

Yet, the thread wasn't about that but the hypocrisy of Bush playing golf while the economy was bad as commented by Axelrod. Yet he is strangely silent about Obama's golfing escapades during an even worse economy.

I thought it was about Obama and his golfing. How does GWB get the green light for admission, but my comments are considered off topic? You included body counts from the war...

Golfing..sure. Just noting the hypocrisy. War is war. Yet he plays, no? Economy is worse than during Bush, but he continues to play, no? I'm pointing out the hypocrisy. Is there a hypocrisy regarding what Axelrod said about Bush but remains mum about Obama's continued golfing?

Forget Axelrod. It is much more important to spotlight the hypocrisy of MM.

Who is this Axelrod anyway? Why the fixation on him? What's the hype about him?

And Bush played golf during the war.

Yeah, Naisho already posted that video. He acknowledged his golfing didn't look good. He quit after doing 27 (or 32 as some may say) rounds golf during his presidency. Wise move. You see, Bush stopped. Obama didn't and went on to play 100 rounds of golf instead despite the bad economy and among other things.

Some guy who was a political consultant in the 90's. Was Obama's advisor until he left his team 1.5 years ago. I think he just sits around as Obama's re-election honcho bashing GOP's these days.
He said some :blah: on TV interview about HW Bush playing golf in '94 and apparently some guys on the web recently got pissed about it (18 years late), reuploaded his interview, and are pinning him for not saying anything about Obama's 100th tee-off.

Rather it's the not saying anything after his 30th round of golf despite an even worse economy. Just that it's interesting at the 100th round.....he's still quiet about it. Axelrod is rather well known in the Obama circle. Shouldn't be a mystery to those who are in the know.

oic..... so.... I'm still wondering why is one getting all hot and bothered about some buffoon named Axe-something?

:dunno: I guess it must be nice to have a lot of free time.

I don't care if any president golfs, shoots hoops, hunts or goes fishing. if thier preformance is in office is subpar, then get the bonehead out of the oval office.

the money spent on extravagant vactions does bug me though.

What about links showing he played golf during the bombing/war with Iraq?
I already did.

This link says his last round was in October 2002. Iraq started in March 2003
you're confused...... better re-read these links slowly and carefully.

Video captured Bush playing golf in 2002, 2003

Bush: "Now watch this drive." On August 4, 2002 -- several months after the United States began bombing Afghanistan -- Bush was filmed speaking to reporters on the golf course. Immediately after denouncing a suicide bombing in Israel, Bush said: "Now watch this drive," then took a swing.

Bush gave up golf; took up biking. On May 13, 2008, Politico reported that Bush said he gave up golf in August 2003, quoting him saying: "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. ... I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal." However, as The Washington Post reported, "Although Bush says he has given up golf, he is a mountain-biking enthusiast who has been photographed taking part in rides. He took up biking after an injury sidelined him from running." Bush was also seen playing golf in October 2003, as a video MSNBC aired shows.

so... why would he be announcing to the world that he'll sacrifice golfing because he did not want some mom whose son may have recently died to see him playing golf one year before the war?

That is because the left is blind to their double standards.
