"President out of touch....plays golf during bad economy..."

With that swing? Nah, he is happy with a Par here and there.

Yeah, but he's trying to get that birdie just this once. 100 rounds of golf isn't enough for him.

Let me see if I get this right; GWB golfed following 9/11, and was told by advisers that it made a bad impression, so he stopped after 27-30 rounds.

Obama has played an average of once every 10 days throughout his Presidency, while not doing a tremendous job. If he focused more on his job, we could be looking at a much larger national debt, but that is saved for another round of griping.

With that in mind, I would fully expect the next guy to immediately refrain from all golfing, boating, fishing, sporting, vacationing, etc, until the jobless rate is back under 6%. If not, then we reopen these chastising threads. OK?

I guess Obama hasn't learned anything from Bush's golfing escapades. An occasional break is fine. This wasn't about vacations if you haven't already noticed the OP thread discussing the hypocrisy on the golfing aspect by Axelrod towards Bush but remain silent about Obama. Why is that?

As for vacationing, I think moderation is key and being humble and aware on the sensitivity of taking vacations that may present an image problem (e.g. family's extravagant trip to Hawaii). It'd be better take vacations domestically. I doubt Romney would take as many vacations as the Obamas have done. The Romneys pretty much covered that in recent interviews. Pretty certain he wouldn't do golfing, either, knowing how serious the nation's economy is.

The guy that should be ashamed is Obama. Our nation is in very bad shape....many people would love to play golf 30 times a year but they don't have a job to pay for it. Many would like to take their kids on vacation this summer.....but...no job. Obama said "shared sacrifice" and "I will not rest" so to play golf when others are suffering is quite hypocritical. Obama deserves all of the criticism he gets.

Big problems started before Obama took office. Clinton and Bush started a lot of issues, including the mortgage crisis and wars. No president has ever required tuition caps in order for a college to receive financial aid, and look at schools taking advantage of fin aid and jacking their prices. Ka-ching, don't you think? Also, it's impossible for a president to make sweeping changes and fix everything in just four years. You know that Romney wants to raise retirement and Medicare age? Guess what, that ain't happening until 2022. Romney isn't so hot himself, but he has pledged to strike down health care reform on the first day of presidency and leave health care up to the mercy of profiteering health insurance companies. As for wars, we aren't really equipped to deal with thousands and thousands of soldiers coming home at once, because honestly, we don't have jobs for them. Bush started with the corporate bailouts, and these companies only kept the money for CEO bonuses. No strings attached with these bailouts.

I don't like golfing, but you know what I think is worse than Obama or Bush golfing? Sarah Palin shooting wild game with a high power rifle from a helicopter. Or running a reality TV show. Granted, she's not a president, but she did run for 2012 and is considering 2016.

Well, that is your intent and focus. I don't think that should limit the conversation. If so, not much point in my input, since I am not gonna stand here with arms folded and nod in agreement.

Maybe Romney will say anything to get elected? It happens every election. Funny how you buy into everything Romney says. He hasn't even been elected, but he is automatically trustworthy. Got it.

As I have said countless times, when you only see one side, you are blind to half the story. That is your lot in life. Embrace it.

Only the hardcore GOP groupies consider her anything more than gossip material. She had her moment in the political area, and bailed out.

She was probably smart to think campaigning and speaking on shows and writing books would make her richer than Alaska could afford, so she took off for that option. And her daughter is on the same track...

Thanks for the opinion. I would ask for links on a lot of that but for the most part its off topic. We know what this guy can do and have heard enough of his lies....next please. And it that guy sucks, which if it's Romney he probably will, run his butt out of there too. *shrug*

Better than Obama as an alternative at this point with 5 trillion dollars deeper in the hole with no ounce of business sense. That's pretty blind right there.

Yup, I agree with you and you made a good point.

Many jobs have been lost since Reagan Admin but much worse after HWB and Clinton Admin due to NAFTA and other free trade agreements. I'm not happy that our politicians allow corporation goes oversea to make profit and Obama wants to end this case but the congress won't support that case.

Well, you are business owner so that why you got different favor than us, unless you are pathological liar.

What do you guys think?

Tell that to all those sites that keep track of Obama's golfing and vacations... They're usually - scratch that - They're GOP sites, I noticed.
Waste of time!

Again, the point is entirely missed about the golfing in this thread. It's the hypocrisy coming from Axelrod who bleated and complained about Bush's own golfing when the economy was bad and how it looks bad for Bush but yet remained mum about Obama's golfing in an economy that's even worse than Bush's time. Not about whether Bush or Obama golfed on a weekend but the hypocrisy from Axelrod.

Teddy Roosevelt advised Taft to not golf during his presidency because it is a sign of extravagance when most people couldn't afford to play golf at their leisure. A fatal image for the president.

First Off The Tee - Don Van Natta, Jr. - Google Books

Again, how come Axelrod is mum about Obama's golfing who have golfed nearly 5 times as much as Bush and even in a worse economy than during the Bush's presidency? That's what this thread is about...the hypocrisy of Axelrod towards Bush vs Obama on golfing.

She was probably smart to think campaigning and speaking on shows and writing books would make her richer than Alaska could afford, so she took off for that option. And her daughter is on the same track...

And people line up to buy the books, watch the shows, buy the DVDs. Why should they stop?

And how does that relate to Obama/Bush playing golf during a bad economy?
