I don't know how to multiple quote, but she's right. I live 30 mi from the strike zone, and what Shel said is accurate. We're fixin' to get out of here on Sunday.

The recent weather bulletin has it forecasted to hit the Key West directly and then head straight to Louisiana/Mississippii areas. Scary...

It is going to be really bad if Louisiana and Mississippi get another destruction.

Morning ya'll

Beautiful weather up here. Right, Maria?

Maybe one or two more days before the feeder bands gets here...

The trough that is running across the Gulf of Mexico is forecasted to break into two pieces just before Ike goes into the Gulf so it's gonna be a nasty one. Ike shifted downwards a bit more so we're gonna be okay, just batten down and be okay.

I grew up in the NE, we've had blizzards and few Nor'eastners. The last nor'eastner I lived through was one of the storm systems that collided with the second storm system out in the Atlantic in "The Perfect Storm". That storm kept ALOT of us in places overnight. Public transportation was shut down. I've never seen so many broken umbrellas in the NYC streets. No kidding. Then it SNOWED the next day. Weird weather but at least the trains were up and running.

Things are looking even better this morning. They are NOW saying that the high will remain intact, which will keep Ike to the South and moving directly across Cuba. If this happens, it will miss FL (and the FL Keys, where I live) all together.

We are more hopeful, but we're also NOT gonna take it lightly, either. We'll prepare and leave if necessary.

Hurricane hunters just post a central pressure of 953 mb which is down from 960 mb.....still max sustained winds 110; with that pressure drop I would not be at all suprised if by end of today it will be back up to 125-130 sustained winds again.

We'll just have to see what happens. Depends on how much the storm interacts with land. You could be right, but we'll keep watching it.
