Hurricane IKE

theres nothing you can do about it though. There were hurricanes yesterday, and theres gonna be hurricanes tmw and the year after that. And the year after that. All this depressing rhetoric and "oh pray for me" crap really ruined this thread. Why not talk/discuss how to hurricane proof it is where you live? Learn some survival skills. Administer it is how you'll be prepared to get back on your feet when it does come through. Or if you cant handle it, move. Move to Kansas or something. God.

Nobody is forcing you to read this thread, either. :)

Just because some of us pray doesn't mean we don't also prepare for hurricanes. I'm probably the most prepared person (to the point of being annoying, I'm sure).

If you can't handle it, move. Move to another thread.

Yes, like graysonpeddie showed new models do show Ike to stay south with aim on Florida. I had faint hope it was going to be steered NE before getting near SE US.

Hang on I am mailing Dead Money into the eye of Ike with the Hurricane hunter planes, maybe his negativity and pessemism will destroy the energy of the hurricane.

Exactly, Reba.

Those of us who live in hurricane prone areas know what to do. The purpose of these threads help ME to deal with my anxiety. It also helps get the word out to others. If people find what we are saying depressing, they can just as easily decide not read the thread.

That would be good. Thanks, Doug! :ty:

Ike can kiss my ass. I survived Andrew, a cat 5, so I can survive a cat 4 too. I truly hate these nasty storms.

DeadMoney,

If you don't like this thread, move on! We like to keep an eye on hurricanes when our area is being threatened. Another purpose of this thread is to allow people to talk about hurricanes. The track has shifted downward with an aim on Key West instead of Ft. Myers but it is still bad for all of us on the west coast. The local EOC guys have not worried much about hurricanes since 2004 but they do talk about almost every hurricane that comes close. So if we wanna talk about hurricanes on this thread, so let be it!

Hey Maria, you paying attention? :D

That's right. I live near Key West, so needless to say, I'm anxious. It doesn't help when people say we're being negative simply because we're nervous. Yes. Those of us who have lived in hurricane prone areas are used to this, but when a hurricane threatens, anxiety should be considered normal.

That poster suggested we should move if we can't take the stress. I would challenge that person... Move WHERE? The midwest has tornados. The South has hurricanes. NE? Blizzards and Nor'Easters in the winter. That leaves the West coast, but guess what? You have Earthquakes.

There's potential weather destruction lurking all over. You simply have to take your chances, sometimes.

I and others have posted in previous hurricane season threads about planning, precautions, and tips for hurricane survival. I guess we just didn't feel like repeating it. :)

The recent weather bulletin has it forecasted to hit the Key West directly and then head straight to Louisiana/Mississippii areas. Scary...
