Your statement is kind of ambiguous. So what exactly do you mean by "aided"????

i was able to benefit from hearing aids and a comtek fm system for 6 out of the 10 years i had severe-profound hearing loss. my hearing aid audi was *not* a fraud.
iavswn,
excuse me, but i think my own ci audi knows more about the qualifications of my being a candidate than you do.
Why are you attacking me? I was not addressing you specifically. I was discussing generally hearing aids not being a disqualification.
That's very contradictory though!!! Why would a person use hearing aids if their audiologist knows for a fact that they would not benefit from the use of hearing aids, unless of course their audiologist is just trying to make money or is a fraud?
are you kidding me? you don't know what the word "aided" means?
let me spell it out for you...
it means that i was tested using bte hearing aids (oticon digifocus II super power bte's) and a comtek fm system with direct audio input.
is that enough amplification for you???
There is no possible way for me to know what you meant by "aided" since you did not specify what "assistance" was given. Therefore, your statement was ambiguous.
what's so contradictory about it? i was able to understand speech with my hearing aids and fm system -- therefore i was receiving benefit from my aids.
by the way, at the time i was also able to hear environmental sounds which i also consider as receiving benefit from hearing aids. other deaf people feel the same way i do. look at shel for instance. she has a bilateral 120 dB loss and considers the fact that she can hear environmental sounds beneficial to her.
If you want to argue that then there is still a contradiction as you were originally discussing how not getting any benefit from hearing aids being one qualifier for receiving a cochlear implant.
one last point i'm going to make. if i say that my percentages were aided, why would that mean without hearing aids?
fine. a person qualifies for a ci if they receive little OR no benefit from hearing aids. happy now?????
Ok, but how then did you qualify as you stated yourself you were understanding speech.
buzz off, iavswn.
you call 8% (left ear aided with hearing aids and comtek fm system) and 22% (right ear aided with hearing aids and comtek fm system) understanding speech???? i don't.
In your own words, "i was able to benefit from hearing aids"
