How Do Insurance Companies Get Away With Calling HA's a Cosmetic Thing?

This is an excellent question, my insurance and my audi had an all out war about my HA's that I'm getting next week. A big problem was since there are very few plans that they have don't cover HA's none of the reps knew anything about what my plan covered, then they started telling her several different things about my plan... first they said there wasn't a limit to what we could spend, THEN all of the sudden they said we could only spend xx amount.

But it still puzzles me how a medical device can be cosmetic, I sure don't wear my HA's just cause they look cool.

Lets get political with this and have Congress pass a law. Thats what its about. Most of the laws passed are in some group's best interests.

Statistically, the deaf earn less than average. Too have them spend over thousand dollars of dollars for hearing devices is a heavy burden. They should be covered by insurance.

If HAs are not considered durable devices, then where did they get the perception that they are "disposable" devices? CI BTEs cost far more and are subject to the same environmental wear and tear as are HAs. This is an industry trying to save a lousy buck.

Presidents

I know off two people who got HA's free. Presidents Bill Clinton & Ronald Reagan.

Well, it don't help much that many do threat them like they are cosmetic devices.

My insurance paid for mine but only so much, not over $4000 or some thing like that.

What I would like to know is how are HA's considered cosmetic? Does any one think we buy them to look sylish?

And you also got the ones that are jealous of us and want to be like us. I see them on here all the time!!!!!!! They are soooooo very, very, very easy to spot too.

what's deaf wannabes? They can hear but act like deaf? in other word - a hearie who signs?

All of the members here should write or email a letter to your congressperson and Obama telling them that it is unfair for insurance to not insure hearing aids since alot of us depends on them.

Maybe someone on here that has good writing skills can write one and each one of us signs it and send it in?
