No, it's not revenge against cancer. There is no emotion involved. It is preventing the cancer from spreading and doing more damage.

If the surgery was for revenge it would mean removing the tumor after the patient died from cancer, and stomping on it. It would serve no purpose.


War at its very basic level is revenge, 9/11 for example it was about revenge, it was about getting back and putting down those who messed with us soil.

No, it was not about revenge. We want to prevent another 9/11 attack from happening.

... its like when someone hits you, your gut reaction is to pull back and hit them back. Why? For revenge, to get even, to get back at them , to show them you cant hit me and just think i wont do anything.

No emotion involved, my grandmother died of cancer, trust me there is emotion involved.


I never said that I agreed or disagreed with the war, I just said that at its basic concept war is revenge. So quit assuming that you know my personal beliefs on war. If it was merely self-defense we would have DEFENDED our selves prior to the attack since we didnt, we have to revenge against the attackers after the fact.

You imply we knew it was coming...we didn't. Nobody ever even thought about using passenger jet planes as weapons. Hindsight is 20/20 vision.

Going over there was necessary and if revenge...so be it. Somebody has to draw the line in sand... If one doesn't, it just keeps happening.

I am not implying that we knew anything I am however implying that I think there are some things like tougher air port secuirty that should have been adressed decades ago. I am not saying that anyone should have thought of the planes being used as weapons but rather there were many instances of plane hijackings that could have been preventend previously, which should have resulted in tougher airport security. But the past is the past and I didnt comment on this to get into an argugment over the war its self but rather someone made the comment that war isnt in any sense revenge.

I am not going to argue the necessity of this war, merely that war in its most basic concept, is revenge. Thats it, and im not saying its good or bad, but merely that it is.

And revenge for what they did. If we just wanted self defense, we would SELF defend not take action on others. Such as when you take a self defense class you learn how to attack others, you take measure to make sure you are able to defense your self, you learn to be better aware of your surroundings, you SELF defend, and then when necessary if attacked you turn those defense mechanisms into a revenge/attack against whome ever necessary.

Revenge doesnt contistute emtotion necessary, renvenge is merely taking a vengence against something else, punshing something. So I said it could be percieved as though the doctor were taking revenge against the cancer, he is punishing it, he is removing it, he is vengeful against it. He is removing it, in retalition for it being there.



I suppose its all about the interpretation of the word, both interpreations I will assume are meritable, and we disagree on the correct context for the word revenge to be used in this situation.

Why the world hates the US. I don't know that the entire world hates the US. I believe there are good and bad things that we, and others around the world do. Its ironic that many of the wars are over religious beliefs. In some instances genocide is occurring which must be stopped. What kind of humans would we be if we didn't step in? The thing about Iraq that irks me is, the justification the government used to get "buy in". It was clearly misrepresented. But the thing I am happy about is that someone that committed the atrocities that the former leader of Iraq did, is no longer in power.

War is sadly a part of our lives regardless of our agreement with the motives. If the United States as a superpower assists another country’s cause, then naturally their enemy will hate us. That and other nations merely dis-agreeing with our motives are reasons “I think” why some in the world hate the US.

You're making a HUGE generalization that the entire world hates the US, if the world hates the US wouldnt that mean that the US its self hates its self?

Your question was "if the wrold hates the US, then why do so many people want to come here" and i said the entire world does not hate the US, that answers your question.

I’ll try to answer that one. My personal opinion is that freedom is an attractive thing. I don't know if you have been anywhere else in the world but I have. One thing I recall is the appreciation I gained for our country after seeing others. The United States is probably one of the most diverse countries in the world. I am sure that other free countries have their share if immigrants as well. It's not a bad thing and who knows, once you start to mix the people of the world together, maybe we will all get along better. Maybe we can start to respect each other as fellow human beings.

Most of the people who try to immigrate to US are from poor countries and are looking for better $$ jobs. There are others who come to get away from dictator countries and some for better colleges.
 
Reba - It is obvious that they want to get a better job in our country, and they do not care anything, but money. I think that they know that our country is a superpower warfare which mean that they feel security to be in the country.

Other countries will have the same superpower because of the nuclear missles from Russia. The migrators do not have the things that we have such computers, fancy radios, cell phones, electric games, etc. And, they hate to get an approval from their government if it is ok for them to have a business or not. We have free market here.

Off subject - The Russia blackmarket sold nuclear supplies to many countries 10 years ago because Russia government was broke. Even, the Russia's security was very poor in these days. The only thing that I don't understand that it has the largest amount of ruby and diamonds in the world that would save the government business alive and go on etc... :roll:

America is NOT the only country - people want to live :doh: !!! Lots of people want to live in ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, FRANCE etc!

My brother in law was offer a good job to live in America, he turn it down because we knows American's school is not up to standard as England's.

I keep seeing lots of rich British people leave the UK because of high TAX, and living in America/France is cheaper, BUT they sending their children to the United Kingdom boarding schools!!

There are MILLLLLIOONS of tramps living in the United States, and I went to Boston, MA and NY during my holiday and was surprised to find lots of down and out people there. - Of course we have some tramps, but not that many compared to them. :-/

That is interesting.

Many Indians (India) came here to be an owner of a gas station or some little stores. Their primary goal is to save the money, and send 90% money to their family in India. Some of Indians don't give a sh t anyone here except paying taxes. Last spring, I saw a local news that two different Indian families owners did not pay their town tax for two or three years, and they are still living there. I do not know if they are in jail or not. Here is a little bit advise if you have a tag sale, and you are selling a nice shower head for 5 bucks. An Indian woman insists to buy it for 10 cents. You say 5 bucks again. She finally bought it five bucks. That's how it works.
