Why Cochlear Implants Hurt Deaf Culture?

Assume you wear a HA but your hearing is deteriorating.... Then you'd prefer a cheaper HA with which you cannot hear over a CI that would make you hear? Interesting!!!

I was just kidding,Cloggy... I still have usable residual hearing so it's better for me to switch to digital aids for now.. If my loss gets worse and I cannot get enough benefit from a HA then I sure would get a CI... The insurance already pays for a CI when one cannot benefit from a HA ....

If you have too much load then a FIAT uno isn't enough to transport it and you should consider getting a Mercedes truck..

Yes this can be an emotional subject to discuss. I still can't understand the arguement presented by some that me (or anyone else) having a CI, when all my family and friends are hearing, hurts deaf culture? :dunno:

I really wonder why Angel is sad
It makes me feel sad either
What's up ,Angel ?
:dunno:

The change in hearing ability can be cause by puberty.

Really ?
I never heard that before :dunno:

Yeah, it means development in body from child into adult but only start in progress when they are around 10 years old like growth hair on public area, acne, beard, breast for female, change in voice and change in body ability.

NOW that is news.... And nobody in this forum ever experienced that...
Where can we read the facts about this?

Google could find this, but these people were beyond puberty....

Shut up... u don't know about it and haven't took anatomy classes at school before.

I find this interesting too TrippLA - I was pre-med in college and never once heard that puberty can cause hearing loss.

I feel the need to edit this - its true that in some people with Usher's Syndrome, more severe sensory reduction (both in sight, hearing etc) can occur after puberty but that's related to the disease itself, and doesn't happen in normal healthy individuals.

When I was growing up I had some hearing in my right ear but not in my left ear. I wore a hearing aid in my right ear but none in my left ear. When I reached my puberty stage (around 11 years old) I noticed I started to get some hearing in my left ear after I heard a firecracker going off so I went to see an audiologist about it. She then gave me surprising news that my left ear now had more hearing that my right ear had. I then received a hearing aid for my left ear.

I don't think he meant hearing loss only.

Very good info. Good to see that the growing body provided you with additional hearing.

And you are right. The statement said, "change in hearing", nothing about which direction.
Still interested to read more about it.
