What do you think of Herman Cain 999 Tax Idea?

... Also, we are also one of the few states that requires sales tax to be paid on used vehicles as well as new vehicles.
We pay sales tax on used vehicles, also.

I didn't know that some states don't charge sales tax for used vehicles.

Im not sure what the tax rate is for Arkansas, but seems like whenever I turn around, I have to pay a tax of some sort and I am considered low income. However, Gov. Mike Beebe lowered our grocery tax a few years back and he eventually wants to repeal it because this causes an unnecessary burden on families struggling to make ends meet. He would rather increase taxes on luxury items to replace the lost revenue. I have to agree with this. We shouldn't be taxed for the absolute essentials, but I can see having to pay a higher tax for luxury items. I am not exactly sure how our state is defining luxury items but I am willing to bet that it's probably high-end clothing, electronics, etc. Also, we are also one of the few states that requires sales tax to be paid on used vehicles as well as new vehicles.

I just wish the grocery tax was eliminated or tax only junk food items so low-income families won't struggle so much to buy food every week.

There is no grocery tax on food in TX except for junk food. I think that is the way it should be. No tax for meds either.

We do too. In Texas though you only pay tax on the after trade price. In CA you pay on the full price.

The Republicans supported the bailouts. And they're the ones blocking the jobs bill.
My Senator, Jim DeMint (R) of SC, voted against the bailouts. So, it wasn't all Republicans who supported the bailouts.

Lindsey Graham voted for the bailouts but he has always been a RINO anyway.

Rep. Henry Brown voted for the bailouts but we have since replaced him with a real conservative, Tim Scott.

As an independent conservative voter, I didn't support the bailouts.

You're right, not all of them supported but the majority did.

That would be great if it were true. The "Jobs Bill" is a horrible bill. However it was Herry Reid who failed to submit the bill for vote at first. MANY Democrats have problems with the "Jobs Bill" as well. That won't show in the votes of course. But that is just poltical gamesmanship. NOTE, Dirty Harry changed his vote.

Saying that the GOP doesn't want job growth because they didn't vote for Obama's plan is like saying a Mother doesn't want her child to be happy because she won't let them eat cake for dinner. I am glad my senators voted against a bad bill.

This is the problem I have is when Republicans says Obama is not trying to do anything about the unemployment rate when in fact, he is but the Republicans block him. What do you propose or what are Republicans proposing should be done about jobs and unemployment as a BETTER alternative to Obama's Jobs Bill?

Specifically, which party is blaming the rich for the problems of the country? Which party is promoting class warfare?

Which party is deflecting? Which party promised a drop in unemployment and asked for a blank check?

Which party bailed out wall street?

Centrist Dems backing away from Obama’s class-warfare strategy? « Hot Air

I mean both parties are blaming one another for what happening with the economy. All this blaming does not solve anything! I wish both sides could stop blaming one another and work together and get our country back on track!! Both sides need to shut up and do something. I can't believe the candidates are taking about Mitt Romney being a Mormon , when people are worried about the economy.

The GOP has made many proposals... They are voting on some of them today. There are a number of smaller measures that have bi-partisan support.....Mostly FTA's. BUT.....Obama has said he will not sign a partial bill. It's all or nothing. Who is blocking again.

Which admin raided Gibson guitar hurting jobs? Which admin is trying to block Boeing from opening in SC costing jobs? Which admin is blocking the midwestern pipeline? Hint it's the same one that is making losing "bets" on Solyndra, Spectrawatt and Evergreen Solar. The same one that thought turtle bridges and condom studies would save us 2 years ago. The same one that revised the Solyndra contract so that Investors are repaid before taxpayers. The same one selling guns to drug cartels. The same one that told us unemployment would not exceed 8% if the stimulus was passed. The same one that told us The health care bill would create jobs.

It's a good start.

We already pay sales tax for food and clothing.

We also pay personal property tax for our vehicles every year.

That's on top of state and federal income taxes.

I believe there is a tax on only prepared food in SC so there is no tax at the grocery store, right? Here in Mass we have meal tax as well and excise tax for vehicles. We are one of the most taxed states while NH does not have a sales tax or a state income tax.

Personally, I would rather see a jobs per-revenue solution instead of a tax solution because the top 1% is never going to give up the money. IMO, the more revenue a business makes the more jobs a business should provide(businesses create work). In the days of the railroad, jobs increased because there was no mechanized labor. In the current Information Revolution, you don't need as many worker to create software. The solution is to create jobs based on revenue. What keeps the economy going is the movement of money.

So what are you gonna do about it, punk?

Massachusetts made you pay the blue book value of a car even if you paid less than that. I brought a car and had to pay a a sale tax higher than what paid for the car! I was pissed off! I was told the state was getting ripped off by people lying about what they paid for car if they got got it through a private sale.

Anyone read about Bachman's comment on the 9-9-9 plan? I kid you not, this is exactly what she said:
When you take the 9-9-9 plan and you turn it upside down, I think the devil’s in the details.

The woman is batshit crazy.
