What do you think of Herman Cain 999 Tax Idea?

So the market moves to Mexico. Can you imagine all of the car dealerships and Best Buys popping up in Juarez and Tijuana?
No. I'm not driving to Tijuana to buy my next car or camera. I buy my cars used from local people.

It is all about greed. Those wealthy folks want to keep gobbling up bigger slices of cheese. They have the power and resources. Do you really think they will go along with this? Not me.
I hate to break it to you but it's not just wealthy people who are greedy. In fact, there are some wealthy people who are generous. Greed is an individual vice, not a corporate sin.

I'm not sure what you mean by "go along with this." If you mean they don't want to change, that could be true. What does that tell you? If greedy people don't like the Fair Tax, then that proves it's a good thing. :)

If you mean that they would break the law if the Fair Tax was passed, that's a different matter.

See how the Democrats are creating class warfare? Pitting Americans against each other?

So, tell me exactly, which party is blaming rich people for being greedY?

I would say it is not a party thing. I would say it is a country-wide thing. I am MOR and I blame greed as the source of a lot of our issues. It isn't a Democrat thing.

I am not saying the wealthy are the only greedy folks. I am also saying that greedy people find any tax to be unfair. Fair tax might be the answer. No idea at this point.

I also would not go to Mexico, but for those people in San Diego...:hmm:

It's a good start.

We already pay sales tax for food and clothing.

We also pay personal property tax for our vehicles every year.

That's on top of state and federal income taxes.

We do not pay taxes on food and clothing in Massachusetts. I think a sale tax on food and clothing will try a lot of families that are already having a hard time feeding their kids. It will force them to buy more junk food that cost less than wholesome food. I will not vote for Cain!

Really? I don't pay any. The only thing you pay taxes on is junk food like potato chips.

We have to pay a tax on dog food and household products and a deposit on soda which we can get back . My state want to put a tax on junk food as kids are getting so heavy. But I do not think that will stop people from buying junk food.

I see that the clothing sales tax is only on items over $175 in MA.....So it's a tax the rich kinda thing.

South Carolina:

General sales tax in my county is 7%.

Unprepared food sales tax is 1%.

Annual personal property on vehicles (6% for personal, 10.5% for business).

Annual property tax, depends on assessed value of house.

Annual SC state income tax, about 7% of net income.

Gasoline tax on each gallon.

Businesses licenses (really a tax; it's based on a percentage of your income); one for each county in which doing business (three), and several municipalities have additional fees.

Our sale tax is 6.25 % and we have meal tax on top of that ! Some towns and cities are trying to made more by having you pay a meal tax that go the the town or city. Having to pay a higher tax rate will hurt restaurants and mom and pop stores that are having a hard time staying in business.
People are spending less money, and I do not see how hurting poor families is going to help the economy.

It most certainly IS a Democrat thing - have you been living in a cave these last few months?

I disagree. Political rhetoric does not reflect anything except desparate attempts to garner votes. That is not an exclusively Republican trait.

Again, I am not a left or a right. I could care less which party anyone belongs to. I am not the one trying to rally the gang of anti-protesters by claiming a party bias. I am simply stating that there are lots of hot-aired rabble rousers for both sides. Pick your favorite and build your altar.

So, tell me exactly, which party is blaming rich people for being greedY?

Both parties are doing that!! The GOP are trying to divide the country too, the GOP is trying to divide it own party by going after Mitt Romney religion. .

Specifically, which party is blaming the rich for the problems of the country? Which party is promoting class warfare?

Which party is deflecting? Which party promised a drop in unemployment and asked for a blank check?

Which party bailed out wall street?

How about you going back to Steinhauer's post#22 and answer the questions.

Herman Cain's idea is piece of shit.

In DC, I paid 6% sale tax on stuffs, except for food, same goes in NoVA and MD.

Im not sure what the tax rate is for Arkansas, but seems like whenever I turn around, I have to pay a tax of some sort and I am considered low income. However, Gov. Mike Beebe lowered our grocery tax a few years back and he eventually wants to repeal it because this causes an unnecessary burden on families struggling to make ends meet. He would rather increase taxes on luxury items to replace the lost revenue. I have to agree with this. We shouldn't be taxed for the absolute essentials, but I can see having to pay a higher tax for luxury items. I am not exactly sure how our state is defining luxury items but I am willing to bet that it's probably high-end clothing, electronics, etc. Also, we are also one of the few states that requires sales tax to be paid on used vehicles as well as new vehicles.

I just wish the grocery tax was eliminated or tax only junk food items so low-income families won't struggle so much to buy food every week.
