KristinaB,
Sounds like your MIL's depressed. Anyway, glad she'll go to a nursing home even for a bit and get the help and care she needs.
My grandmother went into rehab nursing care for a bit and it helped her, from what I recall.

Take care of yourself, though.
Yes, she could very well be depressed. At her age, she may not have a lot to look forward to and she misses the love of her life.
My mother died 9 months after my father died. They were both in their mid-80's. I tell people my mother died of a broken heart (I think the official cause of death was a heart attack).
I miss the love of my life (husband died 1-1/2 years ago) but I'm young (relatively speaking) and plan to live at least another 30 years.

I'm sorry to hear the passing of your husband. I believe older couples do die of broken hearts. We had an elderly couple that lived not far from us. The husband died and less than a year later, his wife passed. :(

Ouch, sounds like it was the painkillers that *could have* contributed to the accident, or at least that is how the State is looking at it. They are looking at the medical reason for the painkillers and they are wondering if your condition may be an impediment to your driving safely.

Not saying your a bad driver but I'm pretty sure that's how the State is looking at it. :aw:

Hopefully you will pass your tests and will get your license reinstated. I've never heard of this so I doubt Arkansas has a law like this on the books. However at one point in time our General Assembly was looking into having anyone over aged 67+ re-take their driver's test every two years. I think it was voted down in one of the chambers, thus never passed.

Thanks. I d do have a condition that required me to use painkillers for a while. I have a diabetic ulcer on my leg and I had poor circulation so they had do a stint on my leg to clear up my veins. It wasn't healing properly due to poor circulation.

I had to stay in the hosiptial for 10 days and stay at a Rehab center for two weeks due to two infections -one of which was drug resitiant. My ulcer is healing up now and I have not had to take pain killers for several days.

Now you know why I haven't posted lately till yesterday.

Nod. I used to be friends with a neighbor who lived near my parent's farm and he died six months after his wife died. I still miss him and it's been over 15 years since he died.

I really hope that all of your health issues go away and you get back to good health.

Worked on signing "clown shoes" with my 4 year old hearing granddaughter. It was her request. Don't know why that was such interest.

I'm afraid some of my health problems are here for good but at least the ulcer will go away and I will do my best to keep my blood sugars under control to slow down or even stop further complications. I sure don't need any more of them.

'Clown shoes'? LOL. Please do tell me how this is signed. I'm also interested knowing how to sign 'Sunday Clouns'. :giggle: (I had to sort out their mess this morning at work)

My hubby got a call from his dr last Friday. He has very very high cholestrol levels so he is at high risks for heart attacks or strokes. I told him so many times before that he needs to exercise. What the dr said hit him hard. He finally started his exercise program today. I hope he keeps it up. His eating habits are pretty good in general but his smoking and lack of exercise is what is putting him at risk.

My way just grab your nose with a claw hand and pull off your imaginary clown nose. Then sign shoes with tapping both S hands together in front of you.

For Sunday tap your right S hand into your left 5 hand palm sharply. 5 hand is held sideways.

That's how you sign Sunday? That's nothing like how I sign it. I just make both 5 hands and basically go "fabulous" like moving your hands down just slightly.

I think that originates like from Christ on the cross like nails. It's old

Good. He doesn't need my health issues. :P I have high cholestrol, high blood pressure and diabetes. I've a history of heart problems (heart bypass with five blockages), I have kidney disease that's quite mild and no other syntoms other than me passing protiens in my urine. However, I need to keep my bs under control so i don't have complations. I quit smoking shortly after my surgery. It wasn't hard as I never was a heavy smoker.

Good for you to quit smoking!

He needs a lifestyle change big time.

Your sign sounds awfully like "bell" though and I've never seen that sign before for Sunday.

It is the second sign for Sunday in Sternberg's American Sign Language Dictionary.

Yours is the first.

I like the second .

:hmm: so that's how you sign Sunday? I sign it this way: two extended 5 handshapes with palms facing the person I'm signing to and then I make a slight forward motion once.

I do sign Sunday that way. Maybe I should have a thread for Sunday signs, as we now have three.
