I do sign Sunday that way. Maybe I should have a thread for Sunday signs, as we now have three.

 Perhaps I should start a thread on the different signs for birthdays. I know three different signs for birthday. The first one that I learned was done this way: b handshape being brushed against your check and the second sigh for birthday is more mainstream: b hand shape at the stomach being forwarded to the palm of your non domiant hand then changing to the d handshape and you sign day. The third one is signed this way: exactly like the sign for music except that is done with the B handshape.

Same thing with Halloween, I know at least three and like 5 or 6 for underwear.

Seems like the last sign would mean 'birthday song'?? :hmm:

I like the older sign for dog better too. It seems more efficient to me.

No. The guy who taught me this explictly said it was the sign for birthday. I think it's because we alway sing "Happy birthday to yooou" to the birthday person.

The two taps on hips and snap fingers sign as if calling dog to heel?

No. The old one I like is scratching behind your ear with your four fingers like a dog paw.

Could be I am just lazy. I seem to have a preference for low motion signs.:hmm:

That's a sign for dog that I haven't seen before. This is how I sign dog: q handshape held sideways and then i make a snapping motion with it.

I have not seen yours , but I do know Dixie's.

Come to think of it, I think each region has it's own sign 'accents'. Each region has it's own way of signing something. But then again I am a new ASL user so there's a lot of signs I've not seen.

Dixie and I live close geographically. So it makes sense we both know her dog sign.

That is quite correct. The first birthday sign that I learned is used mostly in the Staunton area of VA and surrounding areas.

When I moved to NC, I kept wondering why on earth would people sign "driving the grass" and I was like  :squint:  till I learned it was the local sign for truck.

Is this a permanent or temporary move to a nursing home? I can't believe they will charge her for a walker while there. If she needs it, then they must provide it. It falls under accessibility and mobility laws I believe. However, if the family prefers to furnish a specific type, then the family can furnish it. I hope the move goes as smooth as possible.

It is only a 2 week temporary move for rehab only. She keeps falling and now has no strength in her legs to stand up. They are going to work on that and work on her shoulder as well. The nursing home would provide a walker while there, but her insurance will not cover the cost as she already has one that they covered. We have 2 in the house. One is her and the other is my mother's.

Maybe you will get to run the A/C for two weeks while she is gone? :cool2:

I can't decide my major and this November if my classes goes well, I'm gonna need to declare. I was speechless when I met my counselor, but man. She had a master of Science degree in shoot, I forgot, but it looked good on the wall in her office.

Took my 14 yr old to the doctor today...his acne problems are getting worse, and the meds he has are not working very well....so the doctor gave him 3 prescriptions and a new regiment. Sure hope it works...he's the baby and I don't want his skin to have any acne scars.....worked some more on our patio also, had to redo 2 rows of stones, they seemed to be going "uphill"....want to start on the fish tank tomorrow, moving it to the patio...and our Shrimp Net is missing...we've looked all over for it, wanted to do some Shrimping tonight, so I'll buy another one.

Yes, I've heard about Proactiv....haven't tried or bought any of it yet...gonna see if the meds he has will work first. If not, then we'll ask the doctor to try it and see.
