Is there a planned length for her time in the nursing home, or is it indefinite for now?
With the way the cats are acting, do you think your MIL is ready to "give up"? I hope not for your family's sake, but just wondering. So far it is for a few weeks. The doctor is thinking 3-5 weeks. She just told someone that the pain was bad enough and the indignities are bad enough that she's ready to go to Heaven. We shall see. She is just so tired and in pain and doesn't tolerate any pain at all. My giving her a bed bath really embarrassed her too much. While she was glad I did it, she just hates for family to see her naked body.

I went to traffic court today and got fined 50 dollars and 80 dollars for court costs, then I went to the DMV to try to get my driver license back and I found out that despite going out of my way to get my medical forms filled and going to the eye doctor, I still need to fill out yet ANOTHER medical form and that I have to take both the road and written test as well. The new medical form is due by may 16.
HUH?!?! Did I miss something here? You are being required to re-take your driver's test as well as release medical information saying that you are fit to drive? WTF? Please explain.
Yep. Law in VA requires me to do it. I think this is unreasonable.

Arrangements made, tomorrow, we take MIL to the nursing home. Her insurance will only cover 1 week for rehab and then she will have a co-pay of $50 per day after that. She and the doctor think it will only take 2 weeks. Also, X-rays confirm, she has a dislocated shoulder. Same shoulder that was broken. They will work on that. A neighbor has provided us with a wheelchair that can take her weight (268) that we will use to take her to the nursing home with, then bring back to the neighbor. We will also take MIL's walker so she is not charged for one in the nursing home.
On what grounds are they making you re-take it? I agree it is unreasonable.
I don't know. Only that the law requires me to do this.
I would be doing some research and looking into this before wasting time and money. Have you been in an accident recently or have you 'crossed over' into the 65+ 'senior driver' category?
I've been in an accident. I blew out two front tires after taking pain killers in Jan. I should have stayed in the ER for the next six hours. I wasn't able to reach my parents.
No one was hurt. Better my car than some person. I'm 44.
Ouch, sounds like it was the painkillers that *could have* contributed to the accident, or at least that is how the State is looking at it. They are looking at the medical reason for the painkillers and they are wondering if your condition may be an impediment to your driving safely.I've been in an accident.
