Got the lawn cut before the sun decided to stop hiding behind the clouds. May do other yard work or maybe not.

Slept, vacuumed, farmed (FarmVille  ) I would like to be outside but it's raining like cats and dogs today. We've had so much rain lately that yesterday 2 ducks were sleeping in my backyard.

Went grocery shopping.. filled up the truck gas tank... did stop at other place where there was a blitz sale on sports jerseys.. I went in to see at the store.. was sooo damn tempted to buy a Wayne Gretzky customized Oilers jersey but the price..acckk.. other jerseys were advertised with 25% off the original prices and I was ready to snap up some but the prices were something of way high enough.. oh well... got home to put away the groceries and eat my lunch.. did watch hockey game this morning for the 2011 World Hockey Championships with USA beating Austria 5-1 and now watching MLB baseball with St. Louis Cards and Atlanta Braves, while waiting for the NHL playoff game with Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers to start in a half hour.. and listening to music on laptop... ahh..

I froze left over Chicken Dijon with rice for my sick days and raw chicken breast to use for grilling later this week. I also did some jewelry work today. I made a silver plated brooch with a bat cameo exactly like the one in the link and a skull lady cameo pendant with silver pendant mounting. Cameo is just like the one in my link except that my pendant mounting is more ornate than one in the pix.

Some cleaning, some laundry, some research. Probably should have done more cleaning and laundry and less research!

Took my car in to get the annual safety inspection. Passed. Yay, car!

Cleaned out the linen closet and have a pile of old towels to go to the animal shelter, sheets to go to Goodwill, and cannot decide what clever thing I can do with some antique textiles, including my mom's baby dress from about 1920, and some hand-embroidered lace things from my grandmother. Maybe framing? Anyone else out there creative with things like that?

I framed my mothers scarves and jewelry she pinned on them...(she was a waitress) and wore them on her uniforms. She's been deceased since '62. And they are on my bedroom wall, along with her picture.

Saturday is chore day with us. Finally got the wood floors in the dining room waxed...all the vaccuuming and dusting also. Laundry, more unpacking, etc., etc., and taking time here at AD also. Tomorrow we've got to do more work on the Patio.

I did alot of stuff posted in my green thread. I also had a chat with Dick Gregory. Interesting man. Cool looking guy too. I was shocked to learn he is not real happy with obama.

I went to my zumba master class, it was FUN! After, I went to Best Buy to buy somethings I need, ended up walking out with a new camera along with the need stuff :) I can't wait to use it!

Well - almost 10am here and I have already made a trip to the ER. MIL fell this morning around 5 again. Her bedside commode was not usable (full) and she needed to go to the bathroom and was doing well, she says, but her walker caught on the edge of her dresser and she lost her balance and fell. This time the EMT's did not giver her a choice and just loaded her up and took her. The ER was upset since she could not have x-rays taken and she was coherent and all vitals were good. She was able to walk with the walker out of the hospital to the car.

She is home and after sitting up for an hour, is now in bed. She aches all over, but is able to move all extremities and is able to walk. She will see her orthopedist tomorrow and we will go from there. She is going to ask the doc if a wheelchair would be better, but she knows that with her carpeting, they are not easy to move around in. I think we need to get her a better chair for the living room so she can be up more and not spend all her time in bed.

Does yesterday count? I had a busy and a fun day! We went to drop off kids in other town and went to grandmas house to prepare 3 different dishes for the deaf spring festival event. We had fun there and it ended at almost 11:30 pm! 104 people attended the event and it was a success at a new location. :) Today, we are going to Springfest auto show at the casino parking lot. I love checking out cars that people do with them. :)

The living room chair sound like a great idea, and they have ones that will stand her up with a lift just by pushing a button, and can also recline if she is very tired and ill.

Someone please give me a DEEP SCRUB!!! I feel SOO DIRTY!!!!!.....

I visited walmart's site today.

That lift chair sounds like a good idea.

Also, can you put those plastic runners down in your house, the ones that have little spikes on the underside to hold on to the carpet? Maybe that might make it easier to manuever a wheel chair. The orthopedist might have some good ideas; they're used to dealing with things like that.

We went through a lot of similar situations after my step-dad had a stroke. Different types of walkers, two kinds of wheelchairs (one for at home, one that could be transported), various bathroom aids and supports. It all adds up, bit by bit.

If you are going to be caring for you MIL, could I suggest that you see if there is a class at the hospital or someplace about caring for someone who is likely to need lifting. My mom lifted my s.d. up so often, and so incorrectly, that she ended up damaging her own back. It's really important to pay attention to the right way to do it to safeguard your own health. The average person doesn't really know how to handle semi-paralyzed individuals who are just dead weight when you lift.

Good luck with all of it. You sound like you are doing a heroic job caring for both your mom and your MIL.

Beach Girl - I am CNA certified and have worked previously in a hospital in an orthopedic unit as well as heart telemetry unit. MIL will not stay home for full care when it gets to that point. She would prefer to be in a nursing home by then. Her carpet is so damaged from the hurricanes a few years back and flood waters coming in. She had Stanley Steemer come out and dry them, but the carpet company never showed up after repeated calls to restretch the carpet. Now, 2 years ago, there was a hospital bed in the living room for my FIL and that created more stretching of the carpet. She may ask the doctor for a scooter, but she does not like those carpet runners things. Also, we have to consider my walking difficulties and my mother's and if we had those carpet things, we would trip and fall. I am unable to lift my right foot and leg, so it drags. (Doc is aware)

We have 4 canes, 2 walkers, my rollator, a bedside commode, a shower chair and grab bars at both showers. With her weight it is getting harder. She has gained weight over the last 5 weeks and my son can no longer help her get up. He has helped her for the 5 times she fell over the last 2 years until these last 3 times. She was weighed at the doctor Friday, and we found that she has gained an additional 16 pounds.
