MIL fell again late last night. Hubby was unable to leave work as he was the only person there waiting for someone to relieve him. Son tried and tried to help her get up but was unable to. Basically, she was fine. Just fell backwards trying to get into her bathroom and landed on her bottom, but leaning against her shelves and hamper in that hallway. We called 911, 3 EMT’s with fire rescue came out. They got her up and supported her as she walked to her bed. They checked her over. All vital signs were okay. Because she was able to walk, they did not suspect anything was broken. She refused to go to hospital and promised to call her doctor today.
Now, for today, she has called her primary care doctor. He has no available openings today, but his partner, (who happens to be my mother's doctor as well as mine) is able to see her in the North County office this afternoon.
Well, she has been on pain medication since her first fall and just this past weekend, her doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer. I'm not sure, but I think she may have taken too many of the muscle relaxers between Wednesday and yesterday. Yesterday, she was very slow, tired and could not think of the words she wanted. She had an appointment to see the orthopedist, but due to her "lethargy" she was not ready in time. They called her, and she said she would be there, but a little late as she was getting dressed. Well, we finally got there 1 hour after her appointment time and they said she had to reschedule and made the new appointment for 5/10. She was in tears from the frustration. She has been walking with a walker just to support herself. All long she has been doing pretty well, but yesterday was the worst. She has the appointment today and then she got an earlier appointment with the orthopedist for Monday afternoon.
Monday will be some kind of day for me. I have to take my mother to an appointment at 10:30 am, come home, have a fast lunch, then take MIL to an appointment for 2:30. And MIL wonders why I haven't scheduled my appointments with the neurologist and rheumatologist yet. Ah well, such is life.
So I have spent my day taking her to a doctor, the lab for more blood work and the imaging office for x-rays. Oh Joy!!
