I am sorry I didn't reply you last night because I got two calls, that upsets me. First, my mother is still in the hospital since yesterday. They think she may have had anemic and that she needed blood transfusion. This am, I got a message from my mother's next-door neighbor to say that she might stay overnight and that she is getting more blood transfusion. I will fly down to FL, to look after my mother and her husband but I have to call the reservation to book me today if possible. Actually, I am still so tired from jet lag.
Secondly, my sister was telling me that her youngest daughter had her back surgery in May, the blood tests they did showed two things: elevated liver enzymes, and something called "anti-nuclear antibodies".. Anti-nuclear antibodies are a sign of an autoimmune disease. Her doctors monitored her, and a few months ago, her liver enzymes got quite high. They decided that they needed to do a liver biopsy to test if her immune system was attacking her liver. (This is called autoimmune hepatitis.) They did the biopsy on Monday. She will get the results next week. My sister is flying to Nashville to go with her to the appointment. If she has autoimmune hepatitis, it can be quite serious. She will need to be put on prednisone and immunosuppressant drugs. One good thing is that, after a high value of liver enzymes a few months ago, her values are back to normal. They will still want to treat the disease, though, if she has it. They will also check her for other autoimmune conditions, since most of the time, auto-immune hepatitis comes with other autoimmune problems. I think her arthritis in her back may be autoimmune related, but no doctor has said this (yet).
I promise you that I will be back (from FL) to reply each one of you. It's really bad timing! I apologize!
