Surgery Day

I definitely will.

great -- because i'm seriously considering writing a book about my ci experiences as well as my experiences being totally deafblind (several people have encouraged me).

I downloaded them too and read them online when I have a spot of un-interrupted time...LOL!Will definitely check back!

I just read them...WOW..u did so well..and you write pretty well..

AND

you made me long for the next snowfall,or the next trip for skiing to hear that too!!!

Yeah, i read some of it, need to down load them and read them in bed as my new book!! I work in the evenings at the moment and is pretty tired, by the time i hit the pillow I am gone! LOL! It will get read somehow.

Very good so far... Look forward to read more.

thanks, vivie! :)

i really enjoyed writing my ci journal and both essays about my first and second surgeries.

i really should update my journal, but since i've been activated for quite awhile, i don't have many ci moments to share.

Question???
It's been over two weeks since the surgery and there is a spot just below the implant that feels "mushy" so I assume there is still a buildup of fluid under the skin. Is that normal?? Or,should I be concerned and call the surgeon?

yes, that's normal. however, if you're concerned about it, i would contact your surgeon.

Etalton , I had the same..

it went away pretty quickly , but I was on a blitz of antibiotics anyway as a precaution.( please don't ask how long was the blitz )

It's completely normal , seeing as they opened your head and everything.dont worry

I have a bump where the magnet is. Not mushy though. Just a hard bump. I guess it's normal.

Thanks guys...I think I will give it a week and see how it goes. I don't think it is anything other than normal fluid buildup, which often happens after surgeries, just thought it would have gone down more. The rest is fine, very little scabbing, and the incision site is healing really well. If it hasn't gone down more by next week, I will call the surgeon...

sounds like you're coming along well, etalton. :)

I am about halfway through your journals and have skimmed over the two implant articles. I really think you should write a book about it all. Your story was very interesting, and kept me reading while I had the time. I have it all printed, and at work so that I can read it during spare moments. Love the "twas the night before christmas" version with Santa wearing is aids. I am sorry that your mother was not there in body for your experience, but I know she was there in spirit.

thanks, etalton. :) one thing about my mother was that instead of focusing on her cancer pain, she always told me how happy she was about my ci surgery and constantly asked me how things were progressing. my heart aches for the fact that she couldn't be there to witness my surgery and activation, but i know she and my father were both smiling down upon me. my mother always wanted me to be able to hear again and her dream came true. :)

I am sure that they are both thrilled for you..
