Surgery Day

Yeah, I get that from time to time but assumed it was normal also. That is one reason I faxed my surgeon, he personally writes a response or calls (leaves message on machine for hubby to translate). This time, I asked him to fax me with response, and he did less than an hour after receiving my question.

i don't understand. do you mean that your surgeon writes a note to you in handwritten form and faxes that to you?

Yup. I faxed him my question about the fluid retention and he hand wrote for me to come in and let him check it and faxed it back to me. Much easier than dealing with the nurses/receptionists/etc.

thanks for the explanation. since i can't see, i didn't know if handwritten notes could be clearly transmitted via fax. :cool2:

Sorry Hear Again, that was thoughtless of me. Yes, you can pretty much fax anything these days that you can print on a regular printer or copier. Some fax machines are even set up to handle color, I think.

that's okay. i just wanted to make sure i was understanding your post correctly.

i didn't know fax machines could transmit color. interesting.

i owned a fax machine once (pre-ci to communicate with my doctor's office instead of using relay), but never used it because i couldn't keep track of all the buttons.

<warning: current mood ---> irritated>

Well, back from the surgeon. Shame it's over 4 hours driving time, total, for a 15 minute appointment. But, anyway, all is well. The fluid had even started absorbing like it was supposed to and now the only major spot is below the actual implant so green light for activation in two weeks. He said I was right, it was due to my sleeping on it and that is why once I quit, it started to go down. But, better safe than sorry as who knows?

i'm glad you saw your surgeon just to be on the safe side. now you have peace of mind and can rest assured that it's all points go for your activation in two weeks. :)

Thanks Hear Again. I do feel better, and that is important while still healing. Also, knowing things will run smoothly, I hope, in two weeks is a good feeling.

Absolutely. I'm glad you saw your doctor. It could have been a big deal for all you knew. I'm glad it turned out to not be a big deal. Hope you are feeling better!

I am happy to hear everything is good. You were right about sleeping on it. The few times I did sleep on that side caused my symptoms to be worse. The past few days I have seen a dramatic improvement. The swelling around the implant site is nearly gone. I just have the normal bump.

I only have 5 days left and I am pretty nervous.

Thanks AlleyCat and yes, I do feel better. Amazing how dropping a little worry can do that.:)

Travis, I am sorry your migraines were so bad that the implant had to be removed. I have heard advil is something you have to be careful with, but your doctor should be able to give you something if you are still having headaches. Perhaps you could ask on your next visit? I have never had a migraine, but my daughter has and they are terrible from what I have seen her go through.

yes, migraines are awful. i experience them myself and have for the past 21 years. i take 100mg of imitrex for mine and it works great at relieving the pain. i also take topamax as a migraine preventative as well.

So, Etalton, today is your big day. Tell us what happened?

thinking of you today, et! good luck! here's hoping activation will be everything you hope it will be -- and more! :)
