Student got arrested in a major drug bust at Gallaudet University

Charges for prescription pills take longer because they have to verify the Rx. Also, IF the pills were in bottles with other names they will investigate to see if the pills were stolen or if there was a conspiracy. You can bet that 700 pills will bring more charges.

It is biggest risk to run the drug dealing business so that why I'm not interested to become a drug dealing.

I have seen several that said 700. One that say "over 100" which of course could be 700. But, believe what you want. I just hope the Feds get involved and make an example out of her.

I will.

I hope they don't.

I think that I recall about prescription drugs - it is federal crime and the FBI/DEA could get involved with prescription drugs.

That is cool. You are new here. I don't have any sympathy for criminals. In this case the criminal was subsidized by my federal tax dollars. That is worse IMO.

I'm not sure what me being new here has to do with anything. I'm trying to have an insightful discussion with others. No more. No less. I've been nothing but respectful and courteous as I try to earn my way around here. If you simply don't want me around, that's one thing but eh... I'll be here regardless.

I don't have much sympathy for them either. I am from Texas too.

:giggle:

More than anything else... I just hate that this is happening to someone we have known for decades.

:(

Not at all what I meant. Welcome! I was merely informing you that since you are new, "anti-criminal" is my default setting.

Your fear is understandable. But our communities will not improve until citizens start helping police.

I am sorry to tell you that the Gallaudet community is real unique unlike normal communities. It is not about the fear because it is the way that we normally do on daily basis, depending on different situations. If you rat on someone over something trivial, you will get looked down.

You will get much better and clearer ideas when you spend a few years there. :)

Yup, I agree and it is very real unique for sure.

It's not just Gallaudet though. The Deaf community is kind of known for being a bit more vindictive than others. It's everywhere. I wish more people fought back. Not in the case of Molly (obviously) but I wish people fought back against the gang mentality that a community can impose on another.

I remember students telling on students for pulling the fire alarm. So Gallaudet started offering a cash reward for tips as it was a problem then... Soooooo... a guy who reported on another just for the money. He ended up getting his ass KICKED... and he was a pretty big guy to boot. I don't know why I pointed it out but it's just something that I vividly remember happening while I was there. He was SHUNNED by everybody.

*disclaimer*

I never formally attended Gallaudet or anything. I'm a former MSSD student but spent a lot of time at Gallaudet with my college friends.

That is the fear I am referring to. Fear of being "looked down on." That occurs everywhere. Just watch an episode of The First 48. Investigations are often hindered by people who are unwilling to speak. That will probably never change. (sadly)

But, if people every stop worrying about being looked down on and start doing what is right our communities will begin to change. IMO...

I usually report if there are violent crime or any situation with life-death, including alcohol related.

When I lived in Benson for 2 months and the Benson housed the underage, freshmen students, but I wasn't one of them because all dorms were full at time of happened. I was in Benson basement for laundry and I noticed that herds of freshmen came in from back door with one woman who was crying so loud and look like she was about went black out, so I was like WHAT? One woman wanted to run to comfort with me and ask me for helping, but she got locked down by other students. Several students confronted me and asked if I'm RA, so I told them that I'm no RA, so they threatened to beat me up if I report to RA. I just said OK. I went ahead to take a risk to report to RA because there are serious situation - life-death or health problems, so I saw many DPS went in Benson with emergency vehicles parked outside. My room was next to CRE apartment.

Gallaudet policy banned students from allowing students enter from back door, so all students MUST come in from front door.

I would say (in general, not to anyone in this thread), if you are patriot to the USA or your city/state, you would uphold the law and report whenever you feel a crime has been committed. It is the personality of any person, whether deaf or hearing. I don't mean tattlers who report any slightest trivial thing, but I do think when real crimes occur they need to be reported otherwise there is no indication of how well we are handling crime situations.

Cops and others working in federal position have no choice, if they hide information or don't report a crime that they witnessed, they are in violation of an oath.

In application for federal positions that are related to uphold policy and enforcement, you will often see a question like "If your family or friend committed this [offense/crime], are you willing to report to authorities?".

I'll attach one from one of the recent ones I saw. I felt uncomfortable that I knew I would have to turn my parents or family in if I saw them do it, but I also know they will not participate in it.

Agreed. The prosecution bungled that one but a public defender would not have gotten him off... so my argument stands. You need a good lawyer to have a fighting chance in the legal system.

not really. it was pretty obvious... any public defender can point it out and have it thrown out on technicality.

technicality is the first thing any lawyer looks for. you only need a good lawyer to do some serious word playing and theatric acting to get you off the hook when it is very obvious - crime of passion, blackout, mental derangement, insanity plea, etc.

Sure. A clock is right twice a day on the hour. That's just a tad under 10%.

I don't discredit there are good public defenders out there. I know there are. It doesn't bode well for her (or most others) long term to have a public defender. Hopefully she gets lucky for a change.

why do you want her to get a spank on the wrist?

I believe she should be in jail for several years. what she did was a serious felonious crime and she's already on my shit list just for being a distributor.

I have some sympathy for drug user but none for drug distributor and I believe all drug distributors should get maximum penalty allowed.
