Can you give me the post # please? I scrolled thru this thread and couldn't find anything that showed any post-Fort Hood backlash violence. Maybe it was a post that was "cleaned up"? :dunno:

Modern Minutemen..... exactly.

Modern Islamic people don't go throwing stones at women for looking at other men and preaching about jihad against America - something that people do not care to understand.

That's all.
Yes, modern Islamic women still get stoned and persecuted for committing acts that are against Islam's laws.

What about honor killings? Those are still happening today, even in America.

Jiro, I read your post again, and I still don't see anything that says there has been post-Fort Hood backlash violence perpetrated against any Muslims or their property.

Maybe he should rephrase it to "westernized" Muslims instead of "modern." A lot of the honour-killing that happen are among first-generation immigrants.

There has recently been another story posted at a news website that puts another negative slant to Hasan. I'm not going to post it until I get at least one more source to verify it. It gave me chills when I read it.

Modern Muslims tend to be 2nd generation born in America. First-generation are still old school. Beside - honor killings are not limited to Muslims. Recall a stepfather killing daughter's boyfriend in his own home?

Jiro, I read your post again, and I still don't see anything that says there has been post-Fort Hood backlash violence perpetrated against any Muslims or their property.

I listed 3 things - violence, bigotry, and racism. 2 of them has already occurred. If the history is of any reference, the violence will come later on.

In the US, an average of 3 women per day are murdered (1/3 by an intimate partner). Muslims don't have a monopoly on misogyny. *sigh*

Violence Against Women in the United States
That has nothing to do with Jiro's statement. The debate was whether or not modern Muslims still stone women for their perceived offenses against Islamic law.

Please refrain from tossing in the red herrings.

murders, rapes, assaults, racism, bigotry, etc. are still happening today as well. Beside - these people are held accountable for honor killings. btw - these links? these countries are not exactly modern Muslim countries. Iran? Afghanistan? Somalia? c'mon........

I'm sure there are criminal activities committed by "Modern Minutemen"

You very specifically referred to "post-Fort Hood" violence, inferring that Americans had attacked Muslims since the Fort Hood killings. That hasn't happened. You can't state events that might happen as though they had actually happened.

The killings at Fort Hood DID happen. Backlash violence has NOT happened.

Yeah, but "modern" is a misnomer.

Doesn't means Americanized either... since there are westernized Muslims in Southeast Asia, Australia and Europe as well that don't practice the same traditions as their Middle Eastern counterparts. One can even argue that Israeli-born Muslims are also westernized oppose to their Palestine-born counteparts.

right - Modern Muslims doesn't mean they're Americanized. Just that they follow modern teaching of Islam. Just like Old Testament and New Testament.

in Hassan's case, he was simply delusional. It's sickening that imans would distorted the Koran teaching to justify the violence against Westerners.

These were recent news events.

No, they are not all held accountable for honor killings except in Western countries, and even then not always.

Why are you mentioning "murders, rapes, assaults, racism, bigotry, etc."? Your claim was about modern Muslims.

Documentation for that allegation, please.

showing racism and bigotry is not violence? You do know the violence precedes these dangerous traits, right?

Reba, you were the one who brought up the issue of violence against women. My point is that both Muslim countries and the U.S. have a problem with violence against women. Part of the whole violence problem in general.

Her post was in response to Jiro's usage of "modern," not the "fact" that Muslims are the only one capable of committing violence against women.

Isn't forcing one to wear a hijab a form of violence against women?
