Sex Offender Just Moved Into My Neighborhood

In 1985, research conducted by Dr. Gene Abel of Emory University in Atlanta examined a group of sex offenders. Funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, Dr. Abel's research concluded that the typical sexual offender against children is male, begins molesting by age 15, engages in a variety of deviant behavior, and "molests an average of 117 youngsters, most of whom do not report the offense." Dr. Abel emphasized that offenders seek legitimate access to children, noting that "child molesters seek out jobs to access kids" (Abel, 1985).

Let's google that person and see what we can come up with...

Your post didnt offend me but I do have a question...even if they say they wont ever do it again, can anyone really trust their word? After all, they did commit a crime in the first place. No offense, but sex crimes isnt like getting a speeding ticket. Someone has to be really really sick to commit a sex crime especially against children.

It's well known that there is no cure for child molesters. Once out, they will reoffend again.

I recall reading a newspaper of a guy who was released from jail and 2 days later, he was caught red-handed by a cop who's been keeping an eye on him. The perv stuck his hand in the girl's underwear when the cop busted him and he ran. Didn't get very far as the cop had the taser on hand and nailed him.

Is that man a level 3 sex offender? If he is, it means he rapes children out of pure instinct, Meaning he puts no thought into it, he just do it.

I understand your views but let me tell you something...

1.) I have a friend who is sex offender, he only did it once by accidently, he only looked at that 6 years old girl's private area when that girl's parents walked in and called the police on him, he just don't understand and being so native and many things, he just don't know how to stand up and everything like that so he got that. I read his papers along with everybody's words and etc like that so it's only once he did it, it was in 1998.

2.) My cousin, he's married to a woman and having three kids together even he's sex offender for just having sex with his ex girlfriend who was 16 years old when WHEN he was 18 years old. Somehow, his ex's parents called the polices and mentioned that he raped their daughter so he became sex offender for that.

3.) A man lived in my old area, he was my dad's friend. He is sex offender for just peeing outside in the morning, he didn't know that there was kids in the backyard. He just drunk and peed outside unexpectly. So kids' mother called the police on him also.

So I have my words because I know that there's half of people who got crimes which they are innocent. NOt just sex offender include felony for something, or whatever you name it. That's why I just keep their words in my mind to making sure that they don't change the story or anything like that. Plus, I have been watching many things on the tv about people, crimes and etc include tv shows called NCIS, CSI, etc. I learned alot and understood that people, half in that, could be innocent but can't prove anything or whatever like that. So... That's why I said something in first place to remind you guys plus, it's better way to just remember that people could be innocent but at same time, just keep an eye on back, front and sides that's simple to do which I am doing right now. So sorry everybody

You should not be upset.... They did let people know.

My ex-girlfriend lived near to Ted Bundy in Tacoma, Wa. Just two blocks away.

Also, my brother's best friend lived in Apt that where Son of Sam lived in same building.

My former worker was Captain of Nazi U-Boat. I am jewish. We got along. When I learned that he was Nazi made me upset but accept that past is over!!!

I do understand people fear over the sex offenders. I do keep a look out for them as well.

I just feel it is too broad, to sit and go for a witch hunt. Majority of the offense are with in family members or close friends.

BTW... Men are not the Only Sex Offenders. Many Females are on the registry as well. Seems like people do not fear them much. They fear the Male offenders more than they fear the females.

Well I have a few around my neighbors, but it does not bother me at all as long as they are not doing anything stupid.

Not all Germans was exactly Nazi, sounds like he's just a plain ol' Captain of a u-boat. Nothing else. He doesn't sound anti-Semite to me. Misguided perhaps, could be. But he was doing at the time he thought was right for the love of his country.

But so did we.

Males do have the potentiality to kill their victims so they don't later get fingered and end up in prison.

:ugh: wtf, was he lookin' a a six year old girl's genitals for? :ugh:

18 is an adult, 16 is a minor and that is statutory rape

damn that is a vengeful neighbor. drunk takes a leak and call for indecent exposure, mean but it is still indecent exposure

It is also statutory rape when a 17 year old has sex with an 18 year. This is a crime that is often prosecuted here in California. There is absolutely no leniency in the law. What happens when a couple of high school sweet hearts, both 17, are in a sexually active relationship, then one of them turns 18? The DA steps in, and the 18 year old becomes a sex offender.

Yes, this is indecent exposure, and most definitely someone who made a wrong choice (drunk or not, alcohol is never an excuse for poor judgment, you make the choice to drink in the first place), however it is not someone I would worry about living in my neighborhood. I can see that charge, indecent exposure to a child, I can imagine someone reading that on a Megan's Law web site and freaking out, and I can see this as a perfect example of the many flaws of such databases.

I am not saying these databases are a bad thing, far from it. It is good to know who is in your neighborhood, especially if you have children, but people need to exercise good judgment with these things and realize that recidivism is not a given. In fact, according to the DoJ, sex offenders have a lower percentage of recidivism than non-sex offenders.

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/crimoff.htm said:
Sex offenders were less likely than non-sex offenders to be rearrested for any offense –– 43 percent of sex offenders versus 68 percent of non-sex offenders.

An estimated 24% of those serving time for rape and 19% of those serving time for sexual assault had been on probation or parole at the time of the offense for which they were in State prison in 1991.

Approximately 4,300 child molesters were released from prisons in 15 States in 1994. An estimated 3.3% of these 4,300 were rearrested for another sex crime against a child within 3 years of release from prison.

These are, for the most part, people that have served their time, paid their debt to society and have been released to live out their life as best as they can. Watch them, watch your children, but if they are behaving as a normal citizen of society, then leave them be. Live your life and let them live theirs.

Whisperhorse, how would you feel is a man looked at *your daughter's* gentials when she's 6? The parents are lucky that they caught the guy before he had time to do anything else.

My friend was looking at 6 years old girl's private area because she was crying and said it's hrut there it's hurt there! as she pointed down at her private area and he was babysitting her for that parents.

And my cousin had sex with his EX GIRLFRIEND who was 16 years old which they was planning to having sex together but somehow his ex's parents found out and got all pissed off since they are christian and believe that should have sex after marriage. Her parents did love him alot before they had sex, somehow they did then they hate him for that

I have to agree with Whisperhorse...there are some sex offenders who got in unfortunate situations just like she described and have to register as sex offenders for life.

I am more worried about the violent or repeat sex offenders. Found a few of those living nearby..one guy for level 3 sexual assault on little children. :eek3:

I wonder do these people stay on the registry for life?

Yep, sex offender label can be placed on them for the rest of their natural life.

I have a friend who was labeled a sex offender for blowing raspberry on an infant's stomach at a day care, she was 18 during that time, and she is now 37 and still register as a sex offender.. She is not allow to work at a day care ever.

NO WAY would I allow a male babysitter look at my daughter's privates! He should have called the mother. Even the doctor, or taken the child to the hospital.....What was the babysitter thinking?? He deserves to be labeled a "Sex Offender"!

As for the 16 yr. old., I would feel the same way the parents do. Too young to have sex....and the 18 yr. old "boy/man" should have known that! No excuses here!....People make up all kinds of excuses, trying to get out of something like this. I don't have a daughter, but if I did, I would have the man arrested also....I feel strongly about this....

We, as parents, are here to protect our children. I just wish there were more "harsher" laws regarding sex offenders....longer prison sentences, etc. The children are the ones who suffer here!

As for getting drunk, and taking a piss outside in public, where children are....it's his fault for being so impaired that he could not use better judgement. Would you want a drunk man going outside and taking a piss in front of ur children?

Even as something as stupid as streaking through an assembly in grade 10 is enough to get you labeled as a sex offender, rather than "indecent exposure." I know a lot of people that got that on their files at 16-years old and were trialled as adults.

even if babysitting he should not have been looking at a child's genitals. you call the parents for the emergency and let them handle it.

i understand the situation. still it is statutory rape. if he loved each other they could have chose to wait... meaning if he knew sex with the underage girl was not going to sit well with the under age girls parents, he knew the potential outcome....

poor choice and the results will follow him around for the rest of his life

I think the point of this thread is that we need to be vigilant and not let our guard go down just because we live in a "nice neighborhood" or "we are miles from anyone else". As mentioned, most offenders are a person the child knows such as a coach, a family member in some cases, as well as a neighbor that allows all the neighborhood kids to come over. Sometimes it could even be a minister.

You just have to watch for signs of changed behavior in your child. Don't think just because your child is a teen means they can take care of themselves. A teen may feel too ashamed or embarrassed about the incident to tell anyone about it and so they live with it for months, maybe even years, before they break down from the emotional stress.

:gpost:

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can. It is always a good idea to know the law in your specific town or city, because sex offenders are often restricted to areas that are a distance away from schools and such. Beyond that, the best defense is to be beware and to teach your kids to stay away from people they don't know.

Trying to run the guy out of town may sound like a good idea, but it may not work if his presence doesn't violate any area laws.

Yeah, we have a registered sex offender on my apartment property in building #17, and I am NOT happy about it. We have so many little children in the apartments on this property, and sometimes no one supervises the kids. There is a town near here that has actually banned sex offenders. We should ban all of them from US soil, and put them all on an island with electric fences so they can't escape!

That's impractical and reactionary. The most rational thing to do is to be aware of the laws in your city and abide by them.
