San Francisco Circumcision Ban

Honour killing should be allowed then. After all, religious rights come first.

Nope, religion never gets past murder. Even my good book is against murder. This is basically a universal common sense law, both religious and non-religious alike.

Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, these data are not sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision. In circumstances in which there are potential benefits and risks, yet the procedure is not essential to the child's current well-being, parents should determine what is in the best interest of the child. To make an informed choice, parents of all male infants should be given accurate and unbiased information and be provided the opportunity to discuss this decision. If a decision for circumcision is made, procedural analgesia should be provided.

Actually, it wasn't your choice. Your parents made the choice. You were only an infant, how would you be able to consent to it?

Yup, you are correct about it wasn't my choice but my parent. Nothing I could make consent against circumcision because I was newborn and not know about anything, even hard to remember if I was painful or not. That what I know about no complication, that all but not 100% sure.

I spent a lot of time to research on circumcision on wikipedia, Google and anywhere on internet to make judge on my own if circumcision was right for me or not. I considered circumcision as no big deal to me.

Backpedaling, I see.

When it comes to genital mutilation, yes. Especially when thousands of them end up without a penis, or a seriously damaged one on a yearly basis in the USA.

Utter B.S.

Citation or you're jerking it.

Neonatal circumcision in the U.S. is a safe procedure; however, it is not without risk.

In a study of 130,475 newborns identified in the Washington State Comprehensive Hospital Abstract Reporting System (1987–1996) as circumcised during their birth hospital stay, 0.18% had a bleeding complication, 0.04% had a complication coded as “injury,” and 0.0006% had penile cellulitis diagnosed before discharge.

Performing skin mutilation on infants should be illegal. They did not consent nor ask to be circumcised. Do you realize that there are 3,000 nerves within the foreskin alone? That's a lot of nerves to be severed.

I'd say that circumcision is a lot less serious than forced CI, AVT & English-only.

You know how you live without hearing? Yeah, babies live just fine without their foreskin.

It's a slippery slope when you want to dictate other people's personal decisions. It's the same kind of mentality of people who think that Deaf should raise their kids English only or with CI or not have kids at all...same mentality who think that gays need 'fixing' or some such.

As far as Jews and circumcision goes, that's so huge it's not negotiable. Even the 'lost tribes' in Africa - people that were separated from the rest of the Jewish community for 1,000 years - circumcised and kept kosher...long before they had contact with Bantu Muslims.

It's part of the 'covenant'. Jews have regularly practiced circumcision with or without government consent. An exception would have been back in the USSR days as Jews were relentlessly persecuted.

Seriously, if my government told me I couldn't circumcise my children, I'd tell it to go fuck itself.

The vast majority of people who are against circumcision are women who don't have penises and men who have foreskin. ;) Dude, I promise you that circumcised men are not in any way disabled or lacking.

Now, I feel bad because of being un-professed when come to argue about circumcision and I had to defend myself because I'm circumcised and doesn't want to get into embarrassment about how bad is circumcision.

Now, it isn't a big deal to me but it does a big deal to some men.

I had ex-boyfriend who is uncircumcised and I don't see as wrong with him.

Well, CI can be reversible and it had done by surgery to remove the CI from head or not wear anymore, also you can give up your oral by favor in ASL but when come to circumcision, it is non-reversible and after that, men have one for rest of life.

Hey what was the name of that show with Hayden Fox and Luther?

Wonder if this might lead to back alley circumcisions

Not sure, parent could go to other hospital in outside of SF city limit to have circumcised.

That why I said citywide ban is epic fail and won't survive in court, you think so too?

Yeah....I don't think it stands a chance.....several cities out here were trying this....but most have dropped it already.
