my experiences at university have been very positive. i'm the only totally deafblind student on a campus of 30,000 students and have been treated quite well. the only exception is when i attend a lunch event for deaf signers because they always ignore me and never want to do tactile sign with me. even when my captionist tried introducing me to them, no one even said hello.

i just don't understand why it's so hard to even say "hello" even if it's through another tert. that isn't so difficult to do, is it? i think not.
Is there another Deaf community in your area you can get in touch with? Maybe you can try to find some other Deaf folks that would hopefully be more considerate than this group you're talking about.
