"A list of prohibited items and behavior in their theaters is on the theater website."
But do they have signs posted at the theater itself? Some people might go to a theater without checking the website.

Well....."perhaps" both men were breaking the law....:hmm:...one for texting and one for carrying a gun....

so what now?

That's not correct - both of them broke movie theater's rule, not law.

No cell phone/texting and no weapons.

I don't know - I don't live in this area but movie theater supposed have rule displayed at entrance.

Those weren't laws; they were company policies.

If they don't have the correct signage displayed, then how can patrons respect the signs?

Like I said - I don't know because I don't live in their area.

Ask Mewtilation or Jess to check it out.

Some people chose to ignore the rule.

I didn't expect anyone to run on over to the theater. :) I was just wondering if anyone read anything that mentioned the signs or saw a photo displaying the theater sign.

Same with UAB - they don't allow any weapons in all buildings but they don't have any sign posted.

There is consequence below.
Persons on campus and in violation of University policy are trespassers and may be dealt with accordingly, including, but not limited to, being removed from campus and receiving a written directive to remain off campus. Contractors and vendors are expected to comply with policy and contract terms. Violations of Alabama law may be dealt with by appropriate law enforcement. Student violations may be addressed in accordance with the Non-Academic Student Conduct Policy as well as other applicable policies and may include sanctions, up to and including expulsion. Employee violations may be resolved in accordance with employer policies, up to and including termination.

UAB - Direction Student Handbook - Firearms

Based on my experience, it is extremely rare for me to see citizens openly carry guns.

No signs? Our colleges have signs posted at each building entrance.

Our school has only "no gun" signs (which is legally correct). Too many things can be considered weapons for listing on a sign. We have culinary students, building arts students, electricians, welders, automotive and aviation mechanics, horticultural students, nursing and dental tech students, graphic artists, etc. All those people use either sharp blades, heat-producing tools, chemicals, heavy blunt objects, or other equipment that could be weaponized.

Yeah that is so true ! There are signs at the duck pond that say "Obey the leash law , and pickup after your dog". There are a lot dog owners that chose to ignore this. Some people think they're about the law, I said this to the ACO and he said that is true.

No, it is up to manager - they can ask you to leave or getting arrested for trespassing.

It could be worse if you have no permit.

And that is exactly what I stated (its up to the business owner/manager).

Now, have you been able to find anything regarding the legal weight of signs prohibiting firearms in the State of Florida (on private property open to the general public - like movie theaters?)

Carrying a firearm with no permit in Florida is a violation of State law.

What is legal weight means? Your phrase doesn't make sense, so that why I don't understand about what are you talking about. :dunno:

Also, you are dishonest about I made claim that retired cop broke the law by carrying the gun - it looks like you have problem with reading and I never claim that retired cop broke the law for carrying guns, but I clearly stated about movie theater's rule.

Yes, I know, so that why I said worse.

If anyone carry gun without permit into movie theater and manager ask them to leave, if they respect manager's order so LEO won't know, unless they get pulled over on road or outside. If they don't respect manager's order so LEO could charge - trespassing and carry gun without permit, so that why I said worse - more charge.

You are not understanding what Steinhauer is asking you. He says that retired police officers in Florida can go into a movie theatre that has signs saying, "No Guns Allowed" but does not apply to the retired policeman. He is also talking/asking you about Florida now. He wants you to show that retired police officers are NOT exempt from the "No Guns Allowed" in movie theaters in Florida. Or, apparently, anywhere in Florida.

Ask them to leave? How does the manager know he has a gun?

Do you mean any kind of firearm under any circumstances?

In SC, we need a permit only for carrying concealed weapons. For example, if we're going target shooting with our long guns to a range we don't need a permit to transport them. We also don't need permits to buy them.

Legal "weight" means legal authority.
