Meaning that alcohol consumption was less of a problem during the time of Prohibition than it is today. If we allowed everyone to drink or do drugs whenever they please, imagine how many more deaths we would have as a result.

so youre saying people drank more during prohibition than after it was repealed? So in effect legalizing alcohol reduced consumption?

Sorry. I meant that people drank more before it was repealed -- not after.

Obama's and Sotomayor's opinions make better sense than yours and so do Doug's and mine. I'm glad to know where they stand on drug issue. :cool2:
