In response to the 1948... you do know that Lawrence of Arabia promised the Arabs that the British Empire would liberate them from the Ottoman Empire and help them set up their own nations during WW1? They made the SAME promise again during WW2 if the local Arabs assist them in fighting Italy and Germany. Don't blame the Arabs. Blame the British for failing to keep their promise.

Plus Obama never said they couldn't defend themselves from terrorists and other nations according to the source proided by kokonut. They have all rights to do that.

However, many nations in the world... and it's not surprising Obama's stepping up to the plate... are all saying they can no longer ignore the human rights violation of Israeli Arabs (which are LEGAL CITIZENS of Israel) and Palestinian non-combatants.

He only listed three provisions:

- Halt building plans for Israeli Jews in East Jerusalem
- Freeze the Israeli settlements in the Bank and Gaza
- Return the positions of IDF to pre-2000 posts

Show me where he said Israel isn't allowed to defend themselves or couldn't engage in counter-terrorism.

Theorically, if Israel recognizes Israeli Arabs as equal citizens, and the human rights of Palestinian Arabs, then a bi-national solution could be implemented.
