Man won't submit to security, TSA won't let him fly. Who's right?

DDU didn't mention the size of aircraft but I'm sure there are. Doesn't John Travolta have one parked in his yard?

Yes. Two airplanes, in fact.

I stand corrected. :)

But little airplanes aren't going to be as effective as those flown into buildings like 9/11.

Former Gov. Ventura Will No Longer Fly Due to Abuse He’s Endured at Hands of TSA
“I feel that as a former governor, a former mayor, an honestly discharged [Vietnam] Navy veteran, that I can’t live with myself and subject myself that every time I go to an airport I have to prove that I am not a murderer, I have to prove I am not guilty of anything, I have to prove I won’t hijack a plane. I find it ridiculous and so for my own personal choice I will not fly a commercial airliner or subject myself to that again.”

“It probably means an end to my career.”

“I wish no ill will on my country. I am a patriot to my country. And yet I am subjected and treated like I might hijack a plane or I might blow up and murder people. And I take offense to that, Alex.”

A private company owns a 747?

plenty.

ie. Nissan & Renault President/CEO Carlos Ghosn is provided with private jet to travel back and forth between Japan and France. His travel is averaged at 150,000 miles per year and works 65 hrs a week :eek3:

Since the last thwarted attack was based on explosives hidden in toner cartridges, how does groping passengers prevent more of that?

I don't know why he says that will be an end to his career (whatever that is right now). He can get private flights, I'm sure. I think he's just trying to make a point about the whole thing.

He said he was subjected to pat down and search three or four times a week when he traveled for his television show.

awful...
Several people have initiated lawsuits against the government, including a 21-year-old college student from Amarillo, Texas, who had her breasts exposed by a TSA goon and a businessman and frequent traveler who is infuriated by TSA workers sexually groping passengers, squeezing breasts and genitals, that he has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Miami requesting an injunction against the TSA to prevent them from touching private areas without reasonable suspicion.

:ugh:

Yes, I know about his TV show; I've seen it. I don't know if I would classify that as a "career."

Still, he and his crew can get a chartered flight. In fact, that might add even more drama to his program. :hmm:

:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

I've never seen his show.... or maybe I just don't recall it. Conspiracy Theory... c'mon... something that Jiro's not mostly interested in...

exactly. It would make a better sense to implement "Advanced Imaging Technology" for packages. They should know better that this kind of invasive thing would not bode well with Americans. They should also know better that it's American culture to react strongly against any kind of excessive amount of security.

can be a selling point for an airline- no pat down - feel like an american. sorta like southwest and its "bags fly free". there are private aircraft. but usually you have to pay to be a member. i meant a regular airline that can fly you to florida for $90 from nyc

Might as well say that pediatricians are dream jobs for pedophiles...

Actually, that is true. Pedophiles are everywhere. I personally know someone who was abused by her pediatrician when she was a toddler, so, it happens.

Back to the point...

I think these scanners are very invasive and this is going too far, way too far. At first glance, I was like.."I can support the scanners, but not the pat down" (said this to my Dad after hearing a news story about it as I live near Miami and it's ALL over our news)..... Dad said to me... The scanners are very invasive they can see everything. Personally, I don't want somebody looking at my testicles". And, that made me change my mind.

I agree that we need to keep our country safe. But, as my Dad pointed out, if terrorist wanted to act, they'd find a way. You're NOT going to stop everything that comes in/out of this country. It's just not possible.

I also don't agree with trampling on the rights of citizens is the way to go about it.

Incidently, I won't be flying any time soon.

You raise some excellent points here. I would not want to be a victim of terrorists but on the other hand, I find the searches way too invasive for my tastes. I don't think we should have to give up our rights.

Like you, I have no plans to fly anytime soon.

"Imagine if the political elite in our country were forced to endure the same conditions at the airport as business travellers, families, senior citizens, and the rest of us. Perhaps the problem could be quickly resolved if every cabinet secretary, every member of Congress, and every department head in the Obama administration were forced to submit to the same degrading screening process as the people who pay their salaries." -- Ron Paul

I totally agree. :hmm:

Heh, I think Ron Paul has a point there.
