True, but you have to consider what the alternative might be. The more we can do to empower women, the better, but it's going to be a long time before women in Muslim Africa and the Arabian peninsula will have anything like true freedom of choice over their lives.

Polygamy in those areas and polygamy in the U.S. or other Westernized societies have completely different cultural implications.

If we want to empower women, we need to legalize, country wide, same sex marraige.

It'll be a long time before American women have true power over their own lives. I don't see how supporting polygamy is helping women anywhere.

No. But supporting same sex marraige would.

Sorry, doesn't work with me. Homosexuality isn't a sin and anyone who says it supports child molesters, rapists, and murderers doesn't work for me. That logic doesn't make sense to me.

Not sure what you mean by "supports" but no biggie to me. The "logic" was simply what faith is or isn't. My post wasn't about the religion but about faith in general.

Personally, I'd rather achieve full equality for women before addressing whether two dudes can get married. I'm willing to go ahead with the legalizing same sex marriages anyway. Progress is progress. :D

I know many more gay women than gay men. Maybe that ought not be a surprise when you consider that there are more women in this country than men.:D

That's true. I consider lesbians part of the feminist community though.

Yep, and their numbers are underestimated.

That's true. I consider lesbians part of the feminist community though.

I have literally 100s of lesbian friends from golf and softball. There are only 3-4 I would consider feminists. I think that is more of a stereotype. I would say maybe a regional thing but we are from the same region.

I see the same thing.

Ummm, lesbians are feminists because they like all things female.

Since you're not in the feminist community, you're not really in a position to know. Lesbians make up a large percent of the community. There are lesbian separatists who prefer not to be associated with heterosexual, married women, though.

I can't help but feel the ice under their silk. I hope you know what I mean.

Who says Im not? :dunno:

I haven't seen you in the secret club house. :P

I know the handshake AND the code word. :)

but seriously.....while most feminists may be Lesbians that does not necessarily mean most lesbians are feminists. And as I said I think the second is mostly stereotype.....and I am in a position to at least make an educated guess on that. I have a pretty large sample in my circle.
