Poeple have different views on CI. Therefore people think it is good benfit or bad benfit for us. That's life. They think CI is bad. I think CI is wonderful tool. That how people view.

How has the CI helped you?

Oh? That improves your life how?

Simply because I want to hear, it makes ME happy therefore improves my happiness in life...

Noticed the bold right? Thats because I choose and made the decision that I want an implant. No one else had influence on me and I dont influence or tell others whats right and wrong about THEIR decisions on implants.

So without the implant you're all unhappy?

Someone marvels over something he values, a lovely sunset, a great wave, a well-executed turn on a motorcycle, appreciation for a fine wine or a great play, or the sound of a great song and PFH doesn't nod and think about the things he too values, but instead asks WTF, are you saying you'd be all unhappy and worthless without that? Are you saying I'm worthless bc I'm not drinking that sip of wine ?!! :laugh2:

Sure. Problem?

Are you happy without an implant? Will you be happy with an implant?

Its all matter of prefence on how someone wants to live their life.

I do have a problem with that, yes. I had to watch you mope that you were completely disconnected from the world when your implant broke. I had to hear about how you were falling behind in school. Yes, it was temporary, but still.

It just shows me that you can't be you without the implant. It saddens me.

Always the gatekeeper for the one side, aren't you? Remember you have a daughter that has some sort of hearing loss too.... This is all I am going to say on this matter.

If something happened temporarily that meant you couldn't read sign for 6 weeks, you might mope a bit too. And if you were in school, you might fall behind too and feel disconnected. That does mean you wouldn't be you for the duration. You would just be a moping you with crummy grades.

Yes, she's Deaf. I hope she grows up to respect what other people value and never to diminish other deaf people -- or hearing people. And I'm going to continue to speak out against those who undermine and disrespect deaf people, who discriminate against them just as I hope there will always be many others who stand up with my daughter against those who discriminate against and disrespect who she is, what she values, and where she is in her journey.

There are so many valid and justifiable reasons to stand up and fight. Bashing other deaf people in your own community for what they believe and value is not one of those.

Then please begin by speaking out against people that clearly have and apply audist beliefs. After that I will start listening to you.

Are you justifying this experience of his?

? If you mean, can I empathize with his sadness and disorientation when he suddenly lost his ability to hear? Yes.

I think it's as reasonable for someone whose primary means of communication is spoken language to have a sad reaction to a broken implant as it would be for someone whose primary means of communication is signed language to have a sad reaction to suddenly not being able to see others signing.

No. Not that. Nice twisting...... Again.

OK, I believe I have been doing so, but will try again: please stop discriminating against and going after deaf people who don't value hearing in the same way you do, who don't exhibit what you think is the "right" behavior, use the "right" language or label themselves in the way you think is most proper.
