Hate new cars

For more than 20 years, I hardly got stuck in traffic jam. DC area? OMG! I am not sure why people would want stay there and deal with so much traffic shyt down there. :hmm:

Rochester

Wait! Not just cows, Human too! Are they planning to regulate how much we can pass our own gases, eh? How are they gonna regulate the rest of wild animals that DOES pass gas all the time?

Should we ban on Metamucil because it cause a lot of gas?

I think I passed more gas than you due to Metamucil.

The population in Rochester metro is similar to Birmingham, AL metro.

The traffic jam is less common, but it is getting worse as more people move to the south.

Most people stay in DC metro because of jobs.

What traffic jam? Oh, that big city thingy, eh?

I really, really don't believe we can improve fuel efficiency any farther. We are already at the point where we really maxed the amount of energy we extracted from gasoline. There is no way we can hit 100% fuel efficient, perhaps we are already at upper 90%

Same concept with furnace, have you seen 100% fuel efficient? EVEN electricity, because there are energy loss during transmission, so can't hit 100% with electricity. X amount of fuel comes out of mechanically or other form of energy will never exceed its maximum available energy. There will always be a waste of energy, regardless how hard we try. Now, you said about putting men in space, it requires ENORMOUS amount of energy to get them out of Earth, don't forget that.

Same concept with money, you can't buy more if you don't have enough money.

Everything has its own limitations no matter what.

Have you checked about trucks in Canada and Europe?

Canadian Ford F-150 gets 22/32 and American F-150 gets 17/23.

UK doesn't have F series, but they get Ranger, even bigger that is similar to F series and they got 30+ MPG on diesel engine.

Also, Canadian trucks aren't subject to US EPA regulation.

it's because we like PPPPOOOOOWWWWWEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR

*Tim Allen grunts*

I've driven Toyota pick-up truck in America and Dominica Republic. same model... but engines are completely different. the engine in DR is very underpowered. so pathetic.

Thats a hint for you. I think your getting the idea why we guys prefers older cars, especially trucks.

because of less or no EPA regulation on diesel engine?

What are you think about newer Canadian F-250/350 with no EPA regulation?

and BIG SPACE too.

In US, you can hauling about 10,000 lbs with Super Duty, but in Europe, you need semi truck to hauling same weight.

Have you seen Shipping Wars?

Canada is over there, I haven't peek there for ages. Few weeks ago, I got as close as right before the bridge that goes across to Canada. Haven't peek over there at all. LOL

I don't want confuse myself with Metric shyt on dashboard.

I'm curious about between two countries with different fuel economy and regulation.

I notice that older trucks with diesel engine get better MPG than newer trucks with diesel engine.

What is wrong with our country and regulation? :hmm:

:dunno:

I already noticed the problem since years ago.

I started notice that yesterday and my sister's ex-boyfriend have big Chevy truck with diesel engine and he got up to 24 MPG. It seems like his truck was probably early 2000s.

Some truckers said Dodge trucks used to have a decent MPG with Cummins diesel until 2007.

Funny, better emission law = more MPG but EPA make worse.

What's shocking result...

I think about want get car with AWD for dirt road, but I originally love truck because of size and capability to drive on dirt road, but with crappy fuel economy for newer trucks, I can't take it anymore.

Thats why after you buy it, rip the cats out and o2 sensors, put straight pipes and K&N filter system then HAUL ASS !!!!!

What about citizens live in metro with emission inspection?

Also, there is EPA regulation on engine and other parts that may affect on MPG so you need to change the engine that is a lot expensive than simply remove catalytic converter that give few MPG boost, not much or worse, no difference if catalytic converter is high flow.

and who knows what you did?
Modify and bypass or change out before inspections... are you actually in touch with what goes on in the automotive world today?

There is one problem - catalytic converter is federally mandated and no car service will going simply remove the catalytic converter and replace with straight pipe (you have to do on own or someone to remove it in house), also car dealers won't buy or trade your car without catalytic converter or make circumvent to federal/state emission laws. The state troopers or local police officers can stopped you if you have excessive smog and force you to repair or get your car serviced before court could dismiss the case with court fee. Due to legal issue, I'm not going remove the catalytic converter or make circumvent to federal/state emission laws and I just leave as unchanged, except for legally aftermarket parts. For you, it is up to you and your cars aren't my problem, but beware of drivers may report for eye irritation, coughing or excessive smog from exhaust.

I think it is best to buy older trucks to save legal headache, IMO.

I'm driver for more than 10 years now and I lost all count about how many cars that I did drove. I'm big fan of racing cars and Ken Block is one of my favorite professional rally. I have a lot of interest in dirt racing than regular race circuit. I collect a lot of racing games. I originally want a truck because of masculinity attitude and off-road, but after saw about how bad is MPG with diesel engine due to change in government regulation and manufacturer's design for newer trucks. The trucks are absolutely necessary for hauling, but without hauling, it is pointless. I think about trade my car to Subaru with AWD after paying off my auto loan. I'm going move to DC metro in August because of college.

My Mazda6 passed all voluntary inspection, except for auto transmission fluid that I had to pay $140 to flush the ATF and new filter due to transmission lag. The air flows from catalytic converter is fine and gutting will not going make much difference. I dislike Mazda6 because of sucks on snowy, icy road so one reason because I want AWD for better traction on those road conditions.

I have live with ridiculous regulation and that why vote is matter.

Oh Fox, another thing.
New cars are plugged in for emmissions under the dash, if theres no codes and all is working as it should with the by passes, then you got a clean bill of slate to PASS !
