No, let them shop at thrift stores..now, that would get them back in touch with many Americans struggling to pay for bills!

Exactly, Shel!

So should Palin wear a sweat suit and Crocs to campaign rallies?

Are you saying that Palin didn't know how to dress professional and well groomed herself?

How is that "mocking" the middle class? I'm middle class and I don't feel "mocked." I expect my country's leaders to look professional and well groomed. There's nothing wrong with that.

Perhap for you and me but not for some donors and middle class people? ...

I don't blame the people for that because they donated McCain campigan and expect them to doing their job to give the people and country hope, not buy to dress Palin for $150,000.

The fact: Palin is not a catwalk... Nobody interest what she wear but her SPEECH.

Honestly, I do not pay any attention to what Palin wear but her SPEECH to give the people and country hope is a mainly matter...

I do not judge Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama what and how they wear because it's their money and taste until I learn about $150,000 was paid by Republician party to Palin, not from her money...

I too am critical of the clothing shopping spree.

I didnt donate to McCain's campaign to have Palin dressed up like some sort of high fashion Barbie Doll.

I loved her because she was supposed to be like us. One of the people. The 'Hockey Mom'.

I feel deceived and I am changing my vote to Obama

I FEEL SO BETRAYED I DONATED SOME MONEY TO THE MCCAIN CAMP HE PULLS OUT OF MICHIGAN SAYING LACK OF FUNDS AND BUT ALL THIS MONEY ON THAT DUMB LADY SORRY MCCAIN YOU JUST LOST ANOTHER VOTE I FEEL SO BETRAYED YOU ARE NOT A MAVERICK YOU ARE A WOLF IN THE SHEEPS CLOTHES SORRY BUT I THINK OBAMA DESERVES MY VOTE

It's not just those comments but more comments and also several websites as well.

I can understand and don't blame them for that...

I know many professional and executive men and women, and some of them probably spend more than that every year on their outfits.

We already expect candidates to reveal their medical and IRS records. Should we now demand that they all reveal their receipts for clothing?

Look at me, I work in the office and know myself that I don't wear sweat suit and Crocs because I know how to take care of myself. I dress professional but don't for that $150,000 or jacket for that $2,500 like Palin did... I don't go hairdresser to do for my hair and make-up to make myself look good because I know how to do myself. I have almost similar jacket, Palin have cost me only $50..., not $2,500. That's why I like Obama for that because Obama is REALITY.

This is getting ridiculous.

It's a completely ridiculous waste donors's money for that  $150,000 on Palin...

Michelle Obama bought a dress for $148 herself is very inexpensive when you consider that the Republician party spent $150,000 on Palin for clothes, hairdo and makeup for only 2 months...

Do you remember her heavy debt when she was a Govenor of Alaska? It shows itself that Palin can't manage her responsibilty with money... Think about finincial, economy crisis..... It show that Palin don't care... but herself...

What Republician party did for Palin is a most ridiculous!!!

I'd have to agree with Reba. Celebrities wear expensive clothes all the time, does this mean they "mock" middle class? Of course not. I don't think this should be the focus of the election. Nor let it form a basis of judgment towards the candidates.

HOWEVER, judging how McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden are, I can't say I'm surprised by the vast difference in clothes spending.

I respectfully disgree that it should be expensive clothes for celebrities all the time because it don't have to. There're many suitable clothes for celebrities with reasonable price... example H&M... We should take Michelle Obama's example... A dress cost her $150 and also $35 as well but it look good on her.

About "mock" issues - you as a middle class do not feel being "mock". Perhap for you but not for some donors and middle class people...

My first expensive dress, I bought was a bridemaid dress last year after last wedding dress at 23 years ago. :) I use good clothes for attend many special occassion for reasonable price but it doesn't mean that I have to spend expensive clothes for special occassion/celebrities.

I wish that would be new technology that allows totally blind to able to look at picture or visual, it would happen in near future.

Yes it would be cool when there're new technology for the blind people to view the pictures...

Seriously, why do people get obsessed with having expensive clothes?

When I look at her clothes, I don't even know where they were bought from. I have friends who could buy similar outfits from Wal-Mart.

I don't know why some people have to be like that a person can look nice without spending a lot of money and I do a lot of shopping at Wal-Mart for my clothes

one can say Obama is a clever manipulator to fool the public by wearing "poor man's clothes" to disguise his shortcomings :hmm:

 Could you please provide the source to support your claim because I never heard about this?

I only know that Obama is not keen on expensive clothes but his wife replace something for him to wear when his clothes are worn out... He is not keen to go shopping trips to buy clothes... he like what he is... I have seen what he wear when he was in Hawaii for vacation with his family last summer... It look normal... not "old clothes"... I really don't care what Obama wear because it's not his job as a cat walk but his SPEECH to give the people and country hope..

That's exact what some comments in several websites say the same thing...

...
No, I didn't say that. I was referring to the statement that people expect her to look like a hockey mom watching her kids at practice all the time.

I understand and agree that she shouldn't look like a "hockey mom" dressing in sweats or jeans when making public speeches and etc. Just my question is why $150K to look professional?

That's exactly what I thought the same. There're plenty of good clothes for special occassion for good prices, not just $2,500 for that jacket...

Palin is an adult and know herself what she wear for make public speech...

I wear jeans and sweater at home but I know that I would not do that at special occassion...

What kind of shoes are they? Dress shoes?

Dress/Casual

There's nothing wrong with well-made shoes that fit right and last a long time, especially if one has hard-to-fit feet, foot mechanics problems, or specialized functions for the shoes, like running, dancing, cycling, etc.

At least we know you didn't need lifts put on them. :giggle:

Nope--especially if one is 6'9.

Well, I was saying that it is not the celebrities' intention to show off how much money they have when they wear expensive clothes thus "mocking" the middle class. I'd prefer that the celebrities spend a reasonable amount in fabric, but this isn't always the case (In fact, if I had millions of dollars, I'd blow a lot of it on an expensive sporty car or a big boat!). Wearing designer clothes and minimizing repeated wears has become the standard for the famous. Michelle Obama just focuses her spending priorities elsewhere (maybe she spends a lot in vacations for her family).

But here is the real question: Should the GOP foot the bill for Palin's fabric?

I didn't see where she is denying it happened....

I agree. Palin claiming that she represents "hockey moms" is something some people view as a contradiction when they see her wearing very expensive clothes.
