FBI wants to access your online etc.

I'm sure we're being watched everywhere... online, on the streets, at your job, etc. They have surveillance cameras in many places as security. The thing is: you can't really hide from Big Brother... they know what you're doing on the internet, they know your phone conversations without anyone knowing. The FBI or President can deny that claim, but with the technology we have... it's becoming too easy now than old fashioned way.

it's a price we pay to lose our "freedom" we used to enjoy before. :(

In federal work, employees are reminded constantly that we have "no expectation of privacy." I think this is sent out via email as often to cover themselves in case someone wishes to file a lawsuit.

In my case the reality is this: I'm on camera for the whole eight hours I work and whatever additional time I'm on the property, my car is subject to be searched at any time, my emails are read and checked, where I go on Internet is monitored (and for how long), and my phone calls are all available to my employers too. This is why I use my cell for emails, limit where I go online to basic news, and use my cell to call my parents. I really have no breaks so I don't need to worry about time spent online.

I know that in major cities like NY, there are cameras on the streets filming people as they pass. Part of that could be the stores in the area, part, police or Big Brother. I'm sure this is the case for most other major cities too. It's the world we live in and I suspect this is just going to escalate.

I think you're right in that there will be more survailence in the future. I have to say that i agree that there should be 100% monitoring of government and gov workers on the job. The government workes for the people and should be monitored so they can be held accountable.

No, the government works for the president; we provide services for the people...and we're entitled to the same courtsey and respect that those in the public enjoy. Just because I work in government service doesn't mean I'm not entitled to a measure of privacy. If I couldn't be trusted, I wouldn't have been hired.

you didn't know anything about FBI harassment on MLK? google it. it's a famous story.

only one DUI from 25 years ago and yet... they treat him like he committed DUI yesterday? that's what will happen to you.

they are already doing it everyday.

you've already read about it. IRS scandal. FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover was notorious for harassing and spying on citizens and even government officials if any of them even criticized or pissed him off. Hoover did same to MLK.

Steven Seagal. Yasir Afifi. Steven Hatfill. David House. David Williams. any protesters. any frequent travelers to suspicious countries. any outspoken political activists. list goes on.

I am reading a book called right now 'The Gentle Giant of Dynamite Hill'
it's about a Black lawyer that fought for civil rights and he worked with Dr. MLK and the book tell about the cops harassing Dr. King .

I thought everyone had to get at least 2 fifteen minutes breaks if they worked 8 hours. My city has cameras in parts of down town , and I live in a very small city. But unfortunately crimes are happening more often in small cities too.

No no, there was a case, I am trying to find one that happened near my home, FBI, ATF barged in same house 5 times, the last time was about a year ago. Same house 5 times? This has nothing to do with lack of house number or sign was not clear.

I don't know what's happen to him. My guess that his house do not have sign house number. Same happen to my friend's friend's house got break down by police and found it out it was wrong house due lack sign house number or sign was not clear.

Your link is do nothing with FBI. Plus 16 years ago which internet was not very popular that times.

I have to meet a certain standard of production which is not realiastic; so like many of my coworkers trying to get the promotions, we work through our breaks including lunch so we hit the required numbers. It's not fair to have to work non stop towards unrealiastic goals that's set by management, but then who said government employment was fair?

MLK was nothing do with access internet.

He should think before drink. Few of my friends got DUI and they dont learned their lesson then get 2nd DUI again which bad! One of my old friend got killed by drunk driver.

Do you think they will be same team for 16 years? Who knows. I am sure it's lack of house number of sign was not clear.

I worked in a federal law enforcement/intelligence agency and we can't tap people's phones without a warrant. I use to be the go to person for processing the paperwork needed for the wire taps. We have software that allows us to see the numbers, names, and addresses of people a suspect calls and receives calls from - but that's very basic info, but helpful in investigations.

In my current agency, which is primarily Intel and not law enforcement, we use that same software to confirm social security numbers and residential addresses. I don't think it matters what your carrier is...this is something everyone is vulnerable to.

Laura

Thank you! I still dont believe that FBI can harassing someone without crime. No crime then no warrant.

it's not about internet. it's about harassment. before internet - it was telephone. now - it's internet. same thing.

It is considered harassment or information trespassing if any federal law agency look at your information or messages without reason.

The 4th amendment in our US constitution protects everybody, including me, you, your wife, etc. from spy on personal information without any good reason. If there is proof that you are criminal then ok, FBI can spy your smartphone information. If there isn't proof then it's against the constitution.
The Fourth Amendment, or Amendment IV of the United States Constitution is the section of the Bill of Rights that protects people from being searched or having their things taken away from them without any good reason. If the government or any law enforcement official wants to do that, he or she must have a very good reason to do that and must get permission to perform the search from a judge. The fourth amendment was introduced into the Constitution of the United States as a part of the Bill of Rights on September 5, 1789 and was ratified or voted four by three fourths of the states on December 15, 1791.
It is similar like if you got pulled over and cops arrest you by accident but they don't know it yet. Pulling you over and arresting based on no good or mistake reason. Do you want interpreter or lawyer so cops don't misunderstand your statement?
The interpreter/lawyer are for your protection against mistaken arrest. The constitution in FBI/NSA smartphone spying is like protection against illegal search.

Right, there is one caveat that some don't realize, if you end up getting arrested, and go to trial only to find out your innocent, your STILL on hook for attorney fees to defend yourself, and not just attorney fees, you could end up losing job, losing something just because of police's error. Had it happened? You can easily bet your fat dollar bill on it.

I just read one of rants and rave thread at other forum, somebody actually said they are changing from "We, the people" to We, the King Obama" I kinda find it somewhat true, but more of We, the government because Obama isn't the one to start this, but more of maintained them.

Government claims that it actually worked, BALONEY! If this really works, we won't be hearing another shoot out in Santa Monica, CA college. Incident at Santa Monica proved that government isn't doing what they claimed.

Right, I have company email address for work related purposes. The company monitors it and store it even if you delete it, it's still stored in their archive server. I use it for customer service and sending reports to the managements for follow up nothing else.

It's no surprise about working in federal job as they are being under microscope the entire time. That would give those employees to think twice what they put in their cars when they go to work while they random search cars.

I know having cameras out there to keep public safe and security at the same time like you said going to escalate when someone feels violated. Everyone is on their own risk where they are going and being watched.

Yes, the government provides services for the people but it's power and money come from the people.

"Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." Thomas jefferson. You can find that in the declaration of independence and m.whitehouse.gov/our-government

You may take orders from the president but you work for the people. Who do you think pays your salery.

What you do at work is the peoples business when you work for the people but your own business off the clock. Many employers monitor their employees. If you dont like it work somewhere else.

While this is true that employers micromanages their employees, I don't think any employees can escape that. Pretty much every job people have, they're being monitored no matter what. With the technology we have, it makes things easier for employers to watch us than the old time where people can easily sneak and not getting caught.

Yes they do. And i think they have the right to. They have paid for work to be done, you're in their privately owned space often, using their privately owned networks and phones. I don't agree that it makes people more productive but i think they have the right if they want to. Many people start their own business to avoid working for others until they realize it connot be escaped. It's about accountability. You're always acountable to someone.

The government pays my salary, not you or the general public. If we get a day off that's unscheduled, that comes down from the top...what you people do in the public has no bearing on us. How is what I do at work "the people's business?" It's my agency's business, not the public. Now the union rep that made over $100K a year and was found sleeping on the job and getting his meals off the lowest paid employees, that's "the people's business" because he's taking money off of employees which he claims to represent. I don't earn my money off of you. If you think you're not watched when you clock out, you're clueless.
