FBI wants to access your online etc.

Like what?

I am just diesel technician and why would I worry about it? That's all they read my info like order tons parts, meet me at Starbucks, surf news, online, etc. Just don't be stupid do anything like crime.

Yes, if you dont care about any of your rights then you have nothing to worry about

Your bad attitudes is not necessary. You still don't explain why should I worry about it.

Sorry, i will refrain from the attitude :D

Well one reason is that you may not fear what the government knows about you now but in the past and possibly in the future the moral attitude of the gov has been different. You may find that things you've done in the past may be outlawed and you'll find you're now a criminal. Don't forget that at one point being gay was illegal and minorities didn't share the same rights as others. Laws must be broken for society to advance. If the gov had all this technology 100 years ago many of the things we changed for the better such as equal rights would not exist.

Another good reason is if they are allowed to tramp all over one constetutional right what is to stop them from doing the same to another.

One more is people assume that when people want privacy they are trying to hide something criminal. That's just not true. I don't want them listening to my conversations any more than some peeping tom looking in my window. It't my business not theirs.

The days of "We the people" is being numbered. Unless we take action, they will change to "We the Government".

I don't like what the government is doing nowadays, it is getting worse and worse.

Justice Department Fights Release Of Secret Court Opinion On Law That Underpins PRISM Program

Oh wow, all representatives and senators whoever support NSA/PRISM should get fired and I want Patriot Act to rule as unconstitutional or fully repealed.

It is the DOJ that is fighting to keep citizens from knowing the court opinion. That is the scandal. I don't like the Patriot Act much either so when the opportunity arises we can vote those representatives that support the act out of office. That is not always easy thought. It depends on voter priorities. Say for instance a guy in your district supported Gay rights and The Patriot Act you might have a tough decision.

Yes, that's very true.

I rather to vote Canadian lawmaker over American lawmaker. :smash:

BTW, Eric Holder should resign from office.

I don't have any crime since I live in USA. Just speeding ticket. That's it. Why should I worry about it? I am open mind and I don't really care. I don't think FBI would read over billion of messages from million people. Good luck for FBI.

they don't need to read everything. they only need to scan for certain keywords and activity.

No, they won't read every message. That makes it worse. The use algorithms to track and score usage of key words.

Right then why you made a big deal over your private life if you have no crime history? Unless you have crime history which why you was really worry about it?

this is not about criminal history. it's about government harassment and treating you like a criminal.

If you don't care that the government watches your private life then you wont mind if they stick cameras in all the rooms of your house? Send animal control down just check on your animals and dhs down to check on your kids? Thats why we have a right to privacy. The invasion will get worse the more they are allowed to do. And you may trust this government with your personal info but what about the gov in ten or twenty years? Do you know they will be trustworthy then?

Also not everything that is private is criminal. You're assuming that people that would prefer their private life remains private are hiding something criminal and thats not always true.

You know about the ADA law where you can get interpreter (and lawyer) if you get arrested for any reason? Even if you aren't guilty or police made mistake.
That is whole point of USA constitution. The people of USA deserve to be treated equally with government (like police) shouldn't abuse the power.

If police don't give you interpreter then they have violated USA constitution that gives you your rights. That's why it's big deal here, same here with government reading your smartphone information. It needs to be fair and equal - it isn't fair if they can do anything they want (same with not give you interpreter if you are arrested).

It is big deal because in USA, our law makes everyone equal to another and the government is to represent the people. People first, government second. In other country like Russia or China, etc - they don't care about this issue and that's why USA is different from them.

Here's another example. What you think if AD mods (police) read your private messages and conversation with other members? Only reason is you got reported or we don't like you. What if AD rules (Constitution) allows mods to do anything they like without respectful of the members?

Let's say one member made complaint about your post and said you are harassing and you should be banned. Mod reads your messages without your & Alex's permission. So far, only 1 member complaint out of 100. Then the mod (police) bans you and based on one member's opinion. Is this ban fair, and does it represent the rest of ADers?

You would think it is not fair if other 99 members don't have problem with you. You would feel the mod is acting unfairly. That's the same thing with police (government) and USA people, it needs to be fair and balanced which is what USA is all about. If AD is like Nazi-mod style forum, lots of members wouldn't like it and quit or go to other forum where more there is freedom from mods and rules.
