So, you know Sweetmind and you are calling her a liar. ("Also a liar")
Glad you don't know me..

Conclusion.... SxyPorkie is calling Sweetmind a liar...

I would never have said that! But then, YOU know her!

NO Sweetmind is not a LIAR!!!

Thanks!!!

Welcome Jag! I do admire you for taking the time and patience to put forward your experiences but 58 pages on it's a bit like flogging a dead horse on this thread.

How does that saying go?

"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still."

So true! But anyway I hope to read more of your experiences on this forum.

I did a little digging and found that the quote above may have been a misquotation of this:

"He that complies against his will
Is of his own opinion still."
~Samuel Butler (1612-1680), in Hudibras. Part iii. Canto iii. Line 547

But a wonderful quote, nontheless!

Jag, I appreciate your input and am looking forward to learning more about your daughter!

About liars and idiots

That's what I thought.

But you said something else so because you know her, I thought it must be true....Thanks for the clarification...

By the way...
If someone calls a person a liar without showing that person lied, without knowing the person...... Can the person being called a liar call the other person calling the person a liar an idiot?

:nono: :bsflag:

You make yourself an IDIOT... what more you are lying to yourself by not accepting your deaf daughter fully..... and you have not been in the "deaf" world long enough to understand the Deaf Culture,.. that pisses me offfff

Thanks!!

I DO NOT know whole background of her ,,, but she is really nice... SO BE IT!!!!

Thanks!!!

Thank you all for the welcome.

I am actually the one who has the CI. Been a month since it was put in my head. I'm really likeing it. :)

I also have an older daughter who has had HA's since 4th grade. She is trying to get into the trials for the middle ear implant. She's willing to try to help others by taking the chance that she might lose hearing in that ear. She figures theres' always a CI if it damages her hearing. She's an adult.

We do have problems getting the youngest (16) to actualy leave the HA's in. but that's another discussion. Would I choose to implant a small child. Maybe. The more I learn the more I think it's a good option. The earlier the better the chances of oral langage the less dependence needed on interpertors, the more independence they will actually have as an adult. To me that'd be a hugh plus. :) Plus the allure of not haveing to give up participating in my child's pre and elementry age life fully, I think that would push it over the top for me. I wouldn't want to have to depend on house parents raising my elementry aged child. CI gives parents another option.

I might even seriously concider giving the inner ear implant to the youngest if it gets approved. It's for us to decide. not the deaf community that she now particpates in.

WOW, that daughter of you will be one of the pioneer. Beautiful.
It's people like her that made the way for CI. It's good to know that if it doesn't work, CI will be available for her.

Again, nice meeting you.

Fragmenter, you are absolutely right.

(I could do all of it in fingerspelling, but that would be bragging.. )

je hebt helemaal gelijk - Norse?
du hast fullstending recht - German?
vous comprenez - obviously French?
det stemmer det du sier - Dutch?

It seems you have little understanding about deafies and their world,, you need to be more involved in the deaf society to help yourself more understanding.... you will see and learn more,,, try to be invovled in deaf society!!!

Thanks!!

SxyPorkie :ugh2:

i'm sorry but i disagree with that statement because the deafies (Deafies) push people like Cloggy away! this kind of hurts because the hearies are trying to help THEIR children and when they reach out to the deafies, they are condemned -- :dunno:
i have seen for a fact that cloggy has done his research just like fragmenter is doing now -- the parents want the best for their children and are not jumping at any straws to make their children perfect -- they just want more and more tools for their children to function better in the world they were born into
i really feel that the deafies who reject those who aren't like them are actually spinning their wheels in the same spot and not going forward -- it takes the brave ones to stop spinning and actually go to new places, new experiences...

Sorry that you had disagreed with my post... I live in both worlds of deaf and hearing,, i had seen things going on,,, on both sides...

Thanks~~

I'll say this much - in the 6 or so years I've been reading Sweetmind's posts, she is the ONLY person I've ever seen say "so be it" in her posts..

you also sign yours the exact same way she does.

curiouser and curiouser

Er...be careful with absolute statements like this. I use it too although not very often here in AD. Don't worry SM and I are not on the same page either.

(by the way, thanks for the correction -- Norwegian instead of Norse -- wonder where I came up with that?)
