doctors cannot ask about guns

committing suicide is not an accident.

What I got from your original statement: it's better for a child to accidentally shoot himself than it is to know what abuse is like.

good. now keep feeling horrible because you were too busy misallocating your time and resource on small problem while ignoring a bigger problem.

let it burn in your heart and remember it. 1 abused child is one too many victims.

Death of children is a small problem.Nice.

What I got from it is that it's better for a child to accidentally shoot himself than it is to know what abuse is like.

Yeah, I saw that too. I responding to the statement,"Suicide is not an accident". Quite often, those deaths termed suicide were very accidental.

and it's a shame that you failed to see the point.

Why is it that many abused children resort to suicide, mmmmm?

There are many reasons. Why are so many successful? Because their parents had guns and amunition stored where they could get ahold of it. Very few children who express suicidal ideation actually want to die. They don't even have a concept of what death means. They want whatever is going on at the moment to stop. They suicide as a solution to a temporary problem because they do not understand the permanence. And if they did not have a gun handy, intervention could have meant a long and happy life for these kids.

Now that's crazy. and ludicrous.

I'll clarify - an abused child who has been abused for so long that in the end - a death (via suicide) would be like a bliss to them. I do not want them to think like that. I do not want them to resort to suicide by any means.

We should be focusing on abusive parents, not armed parents. Gun is not an issue in here. It's nothing but a distraction from real issue. Like I said - based on the statistic so far, it is just not enough for me to support stronger gun regulations but I still support gun safety awareness and programs.

correction -

death of children caused by gun is a small problem.
death of children caused by abusive parents & bullies is a pretty dang big problem.

And again, you are assuming that all people who have suffered abuse want to die, and nothing is further from the truth. Just STFU for Gawd's sake!

You have no idea what you are attempting to hold forth on.

Same difference. More deaths occur by firearms than abusive parents. Why would you think either one was a small problem. Which children are expendible and which ones aren't?

I had a same thought about your reasoning on gun issue. Why are we focusing on guns instead of abusive parents? :dunno:

Can't backpedal your way out of this one Jiro. You shot yourself in the foot.

not at all. quite a huge difference. Wondering where you get the idea that I thought either one was a small problem :dunno:

huh? I should be responsible for your misunderstanding? :dunno:

So, let me see if I get this right: Of the 2,911 kids killed by firearms in say, 2001, we don't need to take notice and be concerned because hey, it was only a couple thousand of them. Small problem!

How about the fact that you said it was a small problem?
And I copy and paste:

death of children caused by gun is a small problem.

according to statistic I posted... yep it's a small problem compared to leading causes of death.

and I never said we should not be concerned with it.... I said I support gun safety programs and awareness. Let's not try to put words in my mouth when I've already clearly explained it.

You're missing one more sentence.

and I copy n' paste for you: death of children caused by abusive parents & bullies is a pretty dang big problem.

Then why don't you support the efforts of the medical profession to do something about it? Simple. Cuz you have some paranoid idea that it will somehow interfere with your right to own a gun.
