doctors cannot ask about guns

How is a pediatrician to dertermine risk unless he asks the question of whether or not there is a gun in the home. Gun presence is the factor that creates the risk and the need to address gun safety issues. So how does risk of wound or death from unsecured guns get determined without asking the question?

pool kills more children than guns.
abusive parents kill more children than pitbull dogs.

so yea gun presence is hardly a factor in here compared to those incidents above.

If you're fine with pediatrician asking about gun, then you should be fine with pediatrician asking if parents are abusive or not and more invasive questions in order to be satisfied with children's well-being.

ie. "are you going to get cochlear implant for your deaf son? you should because it will open a whole lot of opportunities for your son. being deaf and silence is detrimental to his well-being."

...Unfettered gun rights allows them access to weapons that they normally would not have legal access to given their mental health status. Duh.
Maybe more than they would normally have access to with a mental health check but not necessarily more than sane gun owners have access to. Unfettered rights doesn't always equate to unfettered access and acquisition. There are other factors at play.

Your logic is convoluted. That is like saying more dogs choke on dog food than cat food.

What Jiro has been referrring to is no restriction.

You still haven't answered my question despite the fact that I have directly asked it, and pointed out that you are failing to respond, numerous times.

To be honest, sometimes I wonder if my paranoia of wanting to retreat to the island right now is warranted. I am a bit leery of the survivalists in Washington state, and in the forested areas of B.C. For some reason these people are compelled to construct bunkers with hundreds of rifles.

Survivalists and big-foot believers don't make good combos.

there you go. common sense right there! Too bad that you had to elaborate even further.

"...and if you don't, you're being a neglectful, maybe even abusive, parent. Maybe you need a visit from social services to make sure your child is getting enough oral/aural enrichment."

A wise man would look at some of their activities and philosophies with a bit of fear.

what question was it?

Wow. I guess the ones in favor of a doctor being fined for asking a question have just run out of ammunition, given that they are having to bring completely unrelated topics and comparisons in to attempt to support their position. It would be so much better if they could simply dispute the statistics regarding the number of children that are injured or killed every year by a family member's gun.

Oh, wait, I forgot. Must be the kid's fault because of the Second Amendment rights on gun ownership.

Ah... now I see why your logic is convoluted

Perhaps I should attempt to frame my post to something you can comprehend.

Correct me if I'm wrong but was there anybody in this thread who supports this law that fines doctors to ask questions about gun possession?

anything.

I already replied. Post #361. linked for your convenience.

You must be loosing excessive sleep. That post doesn't have a single word attributed to explaining how a pediatrician can go about determining a child's risk for being injured or killed by a gun in the home if he doesn't ask the question, "Do you have a gun in the home."

Do you understand what determining risk is? Or why it is important? Or that you still have not answered the very direct question that has been asked several times? Is it a problem with understanding the question, because I can simplify it for you if I need to.

You and Reba appear to be the only ones. Everyone else thinks it is nonsense.
