Cochlear recalls Nucleus CI500

I asked for clarification for your question.... not your answer.

AH... NO.. we're on a different page...
So you changed the subject.... Ah, well, good think I asked you..
Actually you changed the subject first and I guided it back.

Answer for this new question is "no"..
So.. I don't know what it means to be deaf - culturally, socially, and medically.
You don't know about raising a deaf child that can hear, use the telephone, whisper, shouts from the toilet and understands the answer....

But really... we already knew that...
ok. Like I said in the first place - you got it all figured out and your daughter is now successfully a hearing person. So why are you here? Do you have any more question or what?

It all comes back to the same age-old question. If we can't hear enough, can we function?
.......
Nope... that's not the question. At least not from the parents I know...
I think most parents see the limitation of deafness in communication... Sign is a minority language. Speech is common. The goal is to give the ability to hear, listen, understand and speak... With HA's or CI... the sooner the better..

It's not about "not being deaf"... its about "being able to hear"..

that's fine. I guess that's how it is in Norway but majority of us are in America. Do you at least understand our side?

Apparently you understood the answer because you said "why don't I answer this question for you? Even my audiologist nor doctor wouldn't assume to answer this question."

Sure..

Deja Vu

Not any more... Last time someone was against CI for kids because her husband had to pay for them and the kids got them for free...

But seriously... "Do you at least understand our side?"
I think "your" side is concerned that "our" deaf children will experience the same crap "your" side experienced growing up outside deaf culture and to prevent that we should keep them deaf, teach them signlanguage and immerse them in Deaf culture... until they can decide for themselves..

How am I doing?

what??? If I don't understand the question, then I ask for clarification so I can give you an answer. You were already answering a question that I asked for clarification. How could you? Are you brushing me away and answering it for me because you know everything?

amazing..... I wish I knew what's it like to be a hearie. Wonder what it's like to be ignorant and have a self-entitlement that we're here to help disabled people regardless of their wish.

We both know the truth.

We both know you are avoiding to answer this question.

so are you here to teach us something?

Nah. Limits in communication? Give me a break. Sorry you think your deaf child is so limited in communication without a CI that she can't possibly function in school, with friends, with family, at work (when she is of age), with a future husband, and so on.

I hope when your daughter is an adult, she doesn't treat others as inferior if they're not perfect without help.

...........Could you understand conversation with your HAs? ......... conversations between different rooms?
....what's that???
.....Another "No"
why don't I answer this question for you? Even my audiologist nor doctor wouldn't assume to answer this question.

It's so nice when someone looks at it from another perspective... not based on fear, but based on love for communicating with other people.
Thanks..

It is still from other peoples perspective and not hers. The answers I am getting are from yours, and others perspective.

no? So tell me.

Very true... And when she's old enough she might come here and inform you.. She needs to work on her english first.. On the other hand... Google translate can help..

Until then, you will have to do with my interpretation of what happened... Very true..

Interesting how the word "fear" can be taken out of context..
For some the fear of hearing nothing, being deaf,
For others the fear of missing sound, missing communication..
