Cochlear recalls Nucleus CI500

Just to clarify BabyBlue- SEE 1 isn't really used anymore. That's why "SEE 2" is now just referred to as SEE. The link I provided adresses that.

I guess you did not get my sarcasm.. I did not say See 1, I said SEE and the letter I. Put them together.. and you get what??

Hint: I am not using the roman number.

Would you sell her your sunglasses for cheap so she can see things fluidly?

just like what you said in other thread... another "hearies feel that the deaf needs help"

I didn't read your link because I dislike SEE in any form. And I doubt these who dislike SEE read it either.

Links and researches by hearing people... Not surprising.

No biggie if you don't want to read it.

I personally like to read and understand all sides of the coin to make well informed choices to benefit my son. Even if it is something I don't align with like AVT- I'd still be interested in seeing the information.

Even today I get "concerned" when I don't have fresh HA batteries on me. It's no big deal whatsoever at home or with family or friends, I can communicate with my SO and family in many ways, easily. But at work or classes? I feel an anxiety. So a CI battery dying must feel the same way.

Many years of programming while you were a child, I bet.

I suspect you'd be right.

so you rather read it from some "studies" written by hearing people instead of listening to our experiences as deaf people? I see.

:iough:

This is in response to most of what's in this thread. I am outta here!

Yes... What are your qualifications?

Exactly my point. You have no qualifications since this is your first time raising a deaf child. So are a lot of parents you come in contact with. 99% of people you talk to only has raised a deaf child, not two, not three. Nearly none of the parents are deaf as well. So hardly any of them would know squat about how to raise a deaf child, they rely on some so-called professionals and support groups, which none of them are experts in the field of parenting.

However, I am deaf, you are not. Big difference.

I have a question from the part of Babyblue's post I quoted above. Is fear really the right term? Who wouldn't want to be included rather than "missing out" if they knew a way they could be included? In this case those she was with were NOT going to be using sign.
It's so nice when someone looks at it from another perspective... not based on fear, but based on love for communicating with other people.
Thanks..

It is fear. Only people who are in denial would say otherwise.

Something like over 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents. The question is whether or not they take the time to understand their Childs individual needs and act accordingly. I'd say a good majority of parents of deaf children here have taken the time to educate themselves about their childs needs as an an individual.

Excellent.. Who here has raised deaf children that grew up hearing with CI??

Well, this is your first time raising a deaf child... it hardly makes you an expert. Far from it.
