alligators are removed from the water

I use another forum and someone posted they know someone that worked at Disney and they said there are no warning signs about alligators b/c Disney doesn't want to scarce people and not have them go there. Damn this sure doesn't sound very good if it's true. I would think people won't want to go after this happen !
I think these people were off of the Disney grounds.... and on a surrounding area that actually isnt Disneys premises?

Ok , This is what someone else posted ", the lagoon is near a Walt Disney World hotel " it was taken from the link I posted it has been updated since I posted it .
But Disney should had some kind of warning for their guests especially since they have people coming all over the world who wouldn't be aware of any danger from
alligators.

My best friend when I was a kid and I would go fishing at a river running through his backyard. We used a V hull 2 person row boat and his mom told us to keep it roped to the dock while we fished. Many, many times a floating log would take interest in our boat and slowly float over to us. We knew what it was, and we knew to keep our hands in the boat.

The small lake across the street from where I grew up would always have alligators basking in the sun as they rested along the bank.

Anyone who has lived in Florida for any length of time knows these things....it's common knowledge. Perhaps Floridians think everyone knows these things. Maybe they assume people already know to keep their kids away from ponds, rivers, streams, lakes, lagoons and to check your swimming pool before you dive in.

Ive never been to Florida yet, but have 2 cousins who moved there in recent year. One is fairly new there, the other has been there for some times and invited me to come down so he can take me out on his airboat and hunt some gators !!!! I cant wait.

There's no warning signs from that hotel. I smell lawsuit.

It hasn't been happened from 1971 to now.

Good luck with lawsuit because Florida is very business friendly so lawsuit will be dismissed.

I'm laughing at someone when she asked to pump the huge lagoon out so Disney won't able to boating anymore.

Oh crap, alligator gonna eat my blind cane after strike them!!!

A "No Swimming" sign is not adequate warning in alligator areas. Alligators spend only part of their time in the water. They spend lots of time on the land. In SC, and probably Florida, they sun themselves and look for mates and food ON THE LAND--golf courses, picnic areas, mall parking lots, residential yards, roads--anywhere they want. In alligator areas, there need to be specific alligator warning signs.j

People from the Midwest might not be aware of this. Since the Disney resort is host to people from all states and countries, they can't assume their guests will be alligator-savvy. They should post warnings.

I agree with you. I had to evaluate things here , I keep reading parents were not watching their child. Fair statement , I wonder if a lawsuit will follow.

well, you can see them on land, water not so much.... so its just stupidity at its best when someone has no common sense. I am nowhere near the ocean, never been to the ocean ( Im in the middle of the states....) But I sure the hell know about Alligators, why didnt they? I think they did, just choose to ignore all and any signs including common sense. When you travel to unknown terrritory, you throw caution to the wind... well most do anyways, Not so much for them I guess.

Hell, Just looked at a state map, they are right above my state, so if you have mountain lions, Bears and other wild dangerous animals... you wouldnt assume another state has wild animals either? I bet when Floridians travel to Nebraska they know not to pet the Big cute kitty cats or giant Teddy Bears?

Sono, I imagine people, including myself, would not expect there to be alligators in WDW. Other parts of FL, yes, but a destination like WDW, it would be the last thing I'd think of.

My husband rented a boat on the Lagoon when we were down there in 1995. I waterskied on Bay Lake on that same trip.
Looking at the map, Bay Lake and the Lagoon are connected by a canal. Never crossed my mind there could be gators in the water.

And yes, I'm aware there are gators in the southern states.

Yep, My cousin told me ( and Ive also read) there are gators in all waters in Florida ( even your backyard swimming pools ) so if its wet, it has gators.

funny.
especially those teddy bears...'-)

that stated i can see why the parents were lulled to sleep.
to them they prob didn't imagine a killer beast lurking in and around Disney world, with all its cartoons and fun and distractions.
sucks
cuz
reading a sign does help in life.
but i understand why they got so distracted.
ive been all through canada, to yokun, nunavut, east coast, west coast...prairies,,(hated the prairies)

up here and in here...once your away from the cities that hug the states along the border..

your not on top of the food chain..

it is a well known fact amongst the beasts here that canadian meat tastes great...

act accordingly
phew
