I understand that, BUT they chose to IGNORE the no swimming signs that were posted, they were everywhere there and still they let their child play in the water.... So the only sorrow I feel is the child lost its life, the parents... well they need to pay the price and suffer the consequences of being ignorant. Child endangerment at its finest, plain as day and they admitted it.Sono, the family is from Nebraska, it may be their first time in Florida, and they may not be aware of the alligators. The child just wandered into the water maybe a step or two and that's when alligators snatched.
Florida is a swamp.... you will NEVER pump the water out of it, The whole state is surrounded with water... The hydrostatic pressure... just to name one issue that nature will win over man. Thats why no Florida home has basements. A little research will settle that.Yeah That is what I said too . Maybe the water should be pumped out and filled in as a park for kids to play in and named of the poor child .

They deliberately ignored the no swimming signs and let their kid play in the water... that right there says it all, they admitted to it.punishing the parents considering the loss is rather unjust
it doesn't serve society in any way
they will live with it for the rest of their lives.
the heartbreak must be immense ...
True thats more inland, but most of Florida...90%+ dont...Except in north part of Florida Panhandle that closer to Alabama and Goergia border so some houses have basement.
They have a regular hunting season just like Deer.how often and to what extant are these beats hunted for game or skin?

I believe the signs had ALligator warnings, I havent seen any pics of them yet so dont really know, but most signs in Florida and California will specify a reason why....There is a sign that said "No Swimming" there was no warning of alligators present. I have a feeling that will change after this incident to add more warning "Danger No Swimming... Alligator in the area" or similar. It's just unfortunate incident and the parents have to live with that for the rest of their lives.
not really dried, just added surface soil or substrate and houses built on floating foundations. Here in St Louis city, corner of Kingshighway and Chippewa it was a swamp, same situation... The 3 story Famous Barr was built there on a floating foundation... ever since they tore it down it has been a parking lot because the new owners didnt know about the floating foundation and everything they built kept sinking, they lost tons of money and finally just paved it....lolYes, Miami used to be swamp before they were pumped out and dried, also same goes with New Orleans.
