Like Fox said... There is a reason its posted. A lagoon here where I live is what its called where the toilet empties where there arent any septic tanks installed, so yeah, if it says no swimming, Im not chancing it...lol

Yeah That is what I said too . Maybe the water should be pumped out and filled in as a park for kids to play in and named of the poor child .

I'm surprised about what you said without checking on Google Map and you will find out about how huge is lake. There are no way for us to respect parent's stupidity or fail to watch this boy went into lake so it is boy's parents fault. Don't blame on nature like that, also Disney did warn y'all by posting "No Swimming".

Also, if it weren't alligator, this boy could be killed by brain eating bacteria, it is dangerous for children to swim in lakes or rivers over southern states without use nose clipping.

pumping out a lagoon? that would be almost impossible task.... and environmentally disastrous.

Yes, you are correct about it. Disney uses this lake for boat only, not swimming. When you see next lake called Bay Lake that where Disney used to have Discovery Island so they abandoned in 2001.

Point taken but we know how people are these days.

Yes, do you know about Malibu? Some houses don't have sewer so they emptied all waste into ocean so swimmers got sick and had rash or red stuff on skin.

BUT... BOTH THE PARENTS NEED TO BE JAILED FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT AS THEY SEEN THE "NO SWIMMING" SIGNS POSTED AND STILL ALLOWED THE CHILD TO GO INTO THE WATER. simple as that, stupidity.

Agreed, we may should appoint you as prosecutor and prosecuting boy's parents and convict on child endangerment.

This is worthy of a serious Facebook post,, I have a lot of friends that visit Florida and they have no idea how lethal it can be so spread the word

That's great idea and I should do it soon.

:ty: for remind me.

Me, Id just take them on a walk to read that sign, then push them in.... idiots.

Yep, need a warning on a hair dryer so you dont use it in the shower...smh

Also in our house, I noticed about there are no plug socket in toilet and bath tub so I already know it is dangerous to use electronic or hair dryer in bath tub.

The plug socket is only located in sink area, separated from toilet and bath tub.

and has to be GFCI to be legal in the bathroom or kitchen.

Yes, we have with GFCI as well, but in kitchen, only plug socket with GFCI is in sink area, that all.

A "No Swimming" sign is not adequate warning in alligator areas. Alligators spend only part of their time in the water. They spend lots of time on the land. In SC, and probably Florida, they sun themselves and look for mates and food ON THE LAND--golf courses, picnic areas, mall parking lots, residential yards, roads--anywhere they want. In alligator areas, there need to be specific alligator warning signs.j

People from the Midwest might not be aware of this. Since the Disney resort is host to people from all states and countries, they can't assume their guests will be alligator-savvy. They should post warnings.

This, I disagree. There should have been specific gator warning signs. People outside of gator states don't realize that gators are also land animals. Staying out of the water isn't enough. Gators live on and run on land. Even if the boy had been standing on dry shore, that gator could have lunged out of the water and grabbed him.

There were a lot of UK tourists in Disney World and they didn't know about alligators.

Florida is a swamp.... you will NEVER pump the water out of it, The whole state is surrounded with water... The hydrostatic pressure... just to name one issue that nature will win over man. Thats why no Florida home has basements. A little research will settle that.
Same with Lowcountry of SC. Almost no basements. In-ground swimming pools have to be built up with berms. Then, you can never let it empty because if it rains the ground water will push the pool right out of the ground. When TCS has put 4x4 posts in the ground for fences, sometimes the water bubbled up from those holes.

how often and to what extant are these beats hunted for game or skin?
In SC, we can hunt them once a year, Sept. 12 to Oct. 10. DNR issues alligator tags (permits) to hunters. Last year they took 312 gators averaging 8.5 feet long.

alligators are removed from the water

I use another forum and someone posted they know someone that worked at Disney and they said there are no warning signs about alligators b/c Disney doesn't want to scarce people and not have them go there. Damn this sure doesn't sound very good if it's true. I would think people won't want to go after this happen !
