Can't we all get along?

Is anyone in the Conservative side ready to admit they are slightly glad this Liberal Congressional member that voted for Obamacare is probably gone? Are you ready to call for her replacement yet? Come on, I know you are out there...
No. The thought didn't enter my mind until you brought it up.

it's un-American to not get along with anybody.

ever wonder why the first rule in the Constitution is Freedom of Speech?

"Freedom of Speech" can be used inappropriately though (on Page 12):

I mean, you can't really be that disruptive in class and interfere with the teaching that is intended.

side note: he took Sign Language III.

Interesting from Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/12/AR2011011206630.html?hpid=topnews&sid=ST2011011203220

Wow, that is so weird. No one wanted to intervene because they were scared of Loughner. That sounds an awful lot like Nadal Hasan. All his colleagues knew he was a nutter but no one intervened.

Was it because it wasn't the "politically correct" thing to do?

it's because finger-pointing is un-American and a first step toward to squashing Amendment 1.

Ask the CEO of Toyota if that is his impression of America.

More honor; less finger-pointing.

I didn't say anything about finger pointing, I said "intervention". When someone is obviously troubled, there needs to be "intervention", not finger pointing.

Why was there no intervention?

"I am deeply sorry"

I bet a lot of Americans didn't really care or didn't think he was that sincere if he said that ...which I can imagine him saying...but generally speaking, we like to grill people when something "bad" happens, sometimes throw it out of context until a "better" authority can go through all the muck.

They grill here. Seems like we swing a lot of risk to be up top.

because he did nothing harmful to himself and/or to others until few days ago.

Again - when you're intervening in the case where you feel he is a danger to himself or to public... you are basically finger-pointing at him as a lunatic psychopathic - "Guilty until proven innocent".

It's a very dangerous path to go down to.

Your posts in political threads can easily be misconstrued as a paranoid, antisocial person who confuses reality with dreams because you believe in aliens and Big Brother spying on you. To make it even more worrisome - you have an access to an array of firearms. Perhaps I should intervene to get you involuntary committed at mental institution for public's safety?

The Americans should know that it's not very easy to say "I'm sorry" in Asian culture especially from higher up. That's why there's a seppuki.

There is a difference between actually being crazy, and making others believe you are crazy. Nadal Hassan's colleagues knew he was crazy. Loughner's instructor's knew he was crazy.

And "Common Sense" says you may not "need" all of that and in believing those things are necessary plus some other things going on in the head it's a higher probability that he will snap and might try to kill someone for his woes.

Personally, I had someone close to me committed because it was spine-chilling when she said something. I thought about it for a few hours at my desk and went to the Chief. Half and Hour discussion plus statement, I feel very secure that it wasn't leaked. That was it. I know she'll be a better person in the long run and I'm not worrying about holding back what she said and has done certain things in the past. She still works in the same building, different teams now and we just smile at each other when we pass each other in the hallways. It sucks, but something definitely needed to be done then.
