Breaking News! CNN announces Osama Bin Laden is Dead !

He ordered the kill. He did not want Osama taken alive and then have to figure out the extremely messy business of trying to organize a trial. Dead, only.

The report from Rumsfeld is that the info COULD have come from Gitmo, not that it did. Just more maybes.:D

Who ordered the killing Osama? The President did.:P

Strange....I thought he ordered the capture....

Also interesting (and entirely right, IMHO) that the orders were "shoot to kill." Obama did not want Osama to come to trial. Too messy, too political.

yea just like Saddam Hussein. that was pretty messy alright.

Are you saying he wasn't captured? We had possession of his body, which has since been buried at sea. Did Bush even come close to a capture or a kill?

This is absolutely hysterical!:laugh2: Eat your words.

Maybe, maybe, maybe. Here is something that doesn't depend on a maybe:

Bush couldn't do it; Obama did.

No, the special forces team did it. Obama just gave them permission.

Would Bush have given them permission? Well ... let's see ....

I dunno about you but how can intel from detainees four years ago still be valid? It would be already outdated.

Wrong. The order was to take alive if possible. It was not possible.

Bush never had the opportunity. He couldn't find him!:D

And Obama did not give permission; he gave orders.

Did you read anything I have posted?

Yes and I see nothing but obfuscation and verbose rambling. Care to give me a simple one-word answer this time?

Yes or No will do - so you're giving no credit to Obama?

Evidently not in a cave in a remote area.:D

I remember wondering how you could get dialysis done in a cave or a very remote area. I think the logistics of getting a dialysis would be hard unless you found a way to wire up a cave.

Yeah, that was one of those very logical quesitons Bush and his supporters ignored.

Whatever the conspiracy theory is, President Obama gave the orders to go through with the operation and the United States Navy SEALs and other special forces got the job done as they were trained to do. President Bush wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, however he did get us into Afghanistan and Pakistan to begin the search for Osama bin Laden. Obama double checked his intelligence whereas President Bush often took us on a wild goose chase. I do believe that for some years Osama bin Laden was hiding in caves along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region and while we weren't watching he quietly moved to the Islamabad mansion. He was wise to not have Internet or telephone wires going into the compound where he was hiding. He was so low-tech that he could not be traced or found without some very good intelligence. Much like how we can only guesstimate how many Amish are in our country, no amount of technology can tell us the exact. It is similar (but different) with Osama bin Laden. He did not use telephones or radios to communicate his orders. He did so with only one trusted courier. Even his own sons were not privy to this even though they are (or were) high ranking senior members of Al Qiaeda. This made it difficult to track his exact whereabouts. Osama knew that with any technology near him, he could be traced by the United States.

I don't doubt it that many in the Muslim world regarded him as a leader, although he was a terrorist leader. They see him as one who fought against Western ideals that are often seen as tearing the foundations of Islam apart. At the same time, many Muslims did not like him as he was seen as giving all Muslims around the world a bad reputation as war-mongering infidels. Not all Muslims want to see the destruction of Western civilization, many come and embrace is while still holding on to their religious and cultural belief systems. As a student at ATU - I have seen many 'different' Muslim students on campus. Many females dress in American-style clothing, yet not as revealing as the American girls and will still wear their traditional Muslim head-dressing/scarf. Many of the Muslim men dress in traditional Muslim clothing but embrace American coffee (men and women Muslim students are seen socializing together at Starbucks on the University Commons) and play American sports such as Tennis and will join other American students in a game of Soccer. The women are openly allowed to pursue higher education, drive cars, and go to the movies. The men are encouraged to pursue higher education, play video games (I watched a Muslim guy play 'Grand Theft Auto' on PS3 with a black guy from the football team in Doc Bryan Student Cafe), they read comic books, go out on dates, etc. They are 'hybrid' so to speak. They embrace American culture and customs while still very openly cling on to their own Islamic customs and culture. It's very interesting to see, especially here in Arkansas.

for old times' sake.

since Osama bin Laden and his family were residing in heavily-fortified mansion in affluent neighborhood of Pakistan...

I'm wondering what will happen next. Are we to accuse Pakistan for aiding and abetting a terrorist? Will the world now know Pakistan as a country that harbors terrorists?
