or we could have bombed the house full of OBL's family and not OBL. that wouldn't bode well with everybody especially Pakistan.

If it could have been "done" sooner, why didn't Obama "do" it last year?

Or could it be that all the pieces didn't come together until recently, regardless of who was President? :hmm:

Honestly, I don't understand what is so humorous about all of this.

I think it's wonderful that OBL was caught, no matter who the President is. I'm very happy that Obama made the right decisions in this operation.

Honestly, I cannot see Bush pulling this off. It required diplomatic skills.

Methinks you should think. You gave good reasons as to why a bombing would be a bad choice. Thus making the surgical strike the better choice.

The President is the Commander in Chief of the military, not their owner. He didn't assign them, or train them. They don't belong to him like house servants. They were SEALs before Obama was President.

What about all those complaints that Obama didn't have military experience and therefore, could not run the military as President? Guess Bush's military experience didn't do much for him when it came to finding the most wanted terrorist in the world, now did it?:laugh2:

If you can quit laughing for a minute, maybe I can explain to you.

I never said that Obama couldn't learn, especially if he listened to those who did have experience. I give him lots of credit but even he would tell you that it was a combination of previous intelligence, circumstances (such as weather), the know-how of the CIA and military leaders, and finally, and most important, the SEALs carrying out the mission. With any piece of that combination missing the mark, it would have been a disastrous failure.

What diplomatic skills? The US didn't even inform Pakistan about the plan until it was over, much less work with them on it. If anything, Pakistan was keeping OBL under wraps from the US.

Well, I can see Obama being diplomatic with Pakistan after the fact, but not Bush. The whole world knew about the Bush declaration, "If you're not with us, you're against us." Or maybe it's just me. *shrug*

That's why a SEAL team face-to-face attack was better than an air attack.

Cooperated with whom? OBL? They certainly weren't cooperating with the US on this search for OBL. They didn't even know about the raid until it was over.
