Brakessssssssssssss

The problem with this part is that they look up at KBB and if the repairs are way beyond the cost of selling them, what they do? They will give you check *AT* KBB fair market value PLUS take your vehicle away. Sometimes one can get more money if they don't go though Insurance agency. Really it depends. Few of my friends went though like this and was pissed off because Insurance actually loses nothing what they do after taking the vehicle? Sell to scrap to get money back, and customer never know.

Get the insurance company to declare it a total.

I guess it depends. When my Cherokee was totaled, I got a very good price for the settlement, beyond what I expected, and I didn't even have to whine or beg. :)

I was able to buy my replacement Cherokee, five years newer and with more features, with the insurance money.

yea. better to be a little more generous than to piss you off with low-ball offer and risk further legal headaches.

Your very lucky, usually the parts from Cherokee worth $$$ like you could sell 4.0L motor for 500 dollars right there, plus more parts.

Friend of mine was unfortunately and couldn't get much out of her Cherokee. Decided not let Insurance company pay her out and kept it and sold to scrapper which ended up more money back than Insurance could pay her. The problem with that is her Cherokee was a 2 wheel drive model and that is what killed most of value, and yours have 4x4 so it holds value much better especially in Jeep family. My Cherokee is 4x4 sport and still running strong, and I know what you mean.

BTW, the Cherokee with 2 wheel drive model and 4.0L outruns those with 4x4 with same engine.

The totaled one was 2x4; my new one is 4x4.

Really? Your very lucky, perhaps your insurance agency look at you and know your not abusing and giving you break.

Notice the power between 2x4 and 4x4?

ETC (electronic traction control?) no the infiniti doesn't have it I don't think so anyways.... still need to read the manual. Its her car now anyways, I don't want anything to do with it anymore.

Electronic throttle control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's electronic throttle control but yeah it's help to control traction.

You don't need read the manual. Just simple looks the engine.

If you see throttle use throttle cable then it's not ETC.

He is right ETC has its pros, but has cons in it. I already drove 04 F-250 and my 06 F-250, most of everything is about the same mechanically, the only difference is not many, and ETC was one of them. Mine has ETC, his truck (04) uses cable instead. The response is so different, when flooring 04, you could dart out easily, while mine if flooring it takes 1 or 2 second for it to respond. The delay is really minimal but yeah I noticed the difference.

Once I had Jeep Wrangler without ETC, I did actually flooring when red turns to green, guess what happened? LOL I turned my wrangler as sharp u turns and on next lane, wow! Can't do that with ETC, or may be can if somebody tells me the secret. LOL

I don't like the drive by wire throttle controls, small delay in response and reliabity is scary. I like the cable throttle, good ol fashioned non computurized throttle.

You can't comparison between 2004 and 2006. Both may be different transmission or engine or worn out due age/high mileage.

That's what switch for. Try turned ETC off and test see how quick response it take.

All depends on car manufacturers due design of program and hardware. I tried on most GM and it's pretty slow to me and I tried VW rabbit and it's pretty QUICK response. So I turned ETC off and it got burned tires so quick. Both were WOT. Both response are same to me for VW but GM NO.

Same idea old PC computer with Windows Vista running so SLOW. So upgrade from HDD to SSD and changed from Windows to Linux. Linux running a lot FAST. It's about right programmer and hardware.

Old fashioned is pretty high risk for safety and mechanically as no ABS, no ECT, no TMPS, etc.

OK heres the ticker on the infinity...
it does have ETC, it shows its OFF on the dash and no idea how to turn it on or whatever yet. I just replaced all the brake pads since it was not stopping well, and the rear pad was paper thin... don't know where she took it but Id like to beat their ass for passing it.
The brake pads have sensors built into them, the front I had to connect wires, the rear is brok and wire tied so I need to find a sensor to replace it ( might be the reason the dash says pads worn and brakes inoperatable?)
I already hate this car but glad its not mine. The calapers are dual pistons on front and singles on rear... really weird suspension set up as well... looks expensive as hell to repair If needed...lol
Anyway, the infiniti now has some serious stopping power. Sorry I didn't get any pictures, didn't think of it... but glad I did the brakes as the front wheel lugs were not tight after having new tires installed.... Man I really hate shops that don't do their jobs or have kids working at them. Reason I do my own work mainly. She wont tell me where she had it done, cause Im about to open some whoop ass.

Technically your right. I am aware of this, but the same engine 6.0L, little different package like he got fx4 while mine is Harley edition (Mostly luxury related features). My truck drives very smooth than FX4, and it has nothing to do with ETC. Also, same transmission (Torqshift). What I am saying is when I floored (Means slap the fuel pedal all way to the floor). I do notice how long it responded by the way I feel the shaft start to turn. For example, when I floor my friend's F-250, the engine revs right away like instantly while mine, when I floor it and I actually notice it has not rev up for about half to 1 second.

My friend finally drove my truck and told me, "Man! this is damn smoothest, and very soft riding truck I ever drove". My response was, "Yeah, you could go off road without damaging any suspension while mine could get damaged easier... BUT mine is easier on my back"

edit: Wait! Are you saying that could re-programming the time delay for ETC to response to zero so can instant respond?

Same here, I took a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT w/5.7L Hemi for fresh brake break-in procedure. Slight slow accelerate response like take 1 second after floor gas pedal. Strange feeling. In few months later, I learned that Jeep GC need software reprogramming to correct slow accelerate response by thru TSB. I don't reprogram them, always send the newer vehicles to dealer to do software reprograms

Yeah, that must be it. :giggle:

Same engine size in both. Performance is about the same. The 4x4 is heavier, so that requires a little more effort.

Yup, especially in NYC, you wanted instant accelerate response otherwise there will be accidents.

But at same time, slower response is best if you got slippery conditions. So, its pros and con. Like I said early floor to make sharp U turn can do with throttle cable.

Right, I did sorta of race with friend that had 2x4 Cherokee with me that I got 4x4 Cherokee, I couldn't beat her only on accelerate part.

Police package Cherokee is even better.

Yeah, that must be it. :giggle:

LOL, I don't even have traction control, ABS, etc and survived fine in snow and ice. All you need is a good driver and drive slow.
