Okay - I do see your point. It also depends on where they're trying to move from. I don't see a big border patrol set up on the Canadian border. Perhaps there is a reason?

On occasion I've entertained thoughts of moving. More about the people than the government.
Many countries very poor and corrupted.I think a lot of people here don't realize how lucky they are.
Lived and travelled Mexico.....some good about it...but corruptiuon is a way of life.
Try and not dwell on the bad things and enjoy the good....this is a really beautiful country....and lots of it.... when you get out there and look around. Find somewhere you really like. Different places. Even just the road trip in itself uplifting. If flying you missed it all.

I wonder if Whoopi feel it is ok for mormons to have underage child marriage (remember the case in Texas?) as well since it isn't "rape-rape" Afterall, teens are having sex and making babies anyway, right?
So maybe we should lower the consent age to 13 for Polanski's sake (being sarcastic)

I'm talking about LDS (can't exactly remember)... when they have polygamy marriage issues. btw, my dad and his family are mormons (but my mom and her family, as well as I, are not. we are baptists).

One lady friend of mine was in Iraq. She got shot at, came home to get fixed up. On her 2nd tour in Iraq she was unlucky enough to be near a roadside bomb when it went off. Metal debris went through her neck, she was nearly decapitated. Surgeries and such later, she was finally released on a medical retirement from our fine military.

Now - A deaf dude decides to become lazy and stuff... gets SSI or SSDI - and bam, he has almost 100% coverage for health care. This coverage allows him to go to the ER for ANY ailments he feels like having. This also allows him to partake in any risky sports such as auto racing, snowboarding in the back country in an avalanche zone, go shark fishing in a kayak - with the comfort of being covered instantly, without questions.

This lady who just got blown up now has to wait 24 months until she can get insurance while being on SSDI with the military pension because she has a family of two kids and she can't work at the moment due to too much pain.
Her bills are going super high, and she is resorting to illegal drugs due to pain and PTSD.

Is this fair?

I am deaf. When I lost my job, I had to wait two years to get Medicare coverage, too. I had to buy an insurance on my own.

Keep religion out of the discussion-- or this might turn into another discussion about the scandals involving priests and alter boys.

Got nothing to do with polygamy, just humans are disgusting. I will never forgive my grandmother for saying this:

"If they're old enough to bleed, they're old enough to breed."

But that is another topic, separate from the concerns about the direction where the US is heading into.
 
yeah, i hate it that some people work very hard, do everything right, even waited to have a child at the right time, and yet some people have babies , get on welfare and never work (only the people who worked very hard are paying for them). yes, USA is unfair.

First you have to drug the 13 year old girl into semi-conscious so her groggy nodding of her bobble head means "Go ahead and sodomize me."

Whoopi's an idiot for making that comment to try and justify on defending Polanski's crime. Truly sickening.
